Aug. 6th, 2011 09:21 amLJ went down again last night - a "varnish error" - whatever that is. Have discovered that the stupid mail-man has been mis-delivering the mail again. Highly annoying and a common occurrence in NYC. Half tempted to get a Post Office Box, but figure will more or less have the same problem. Also said box would be fifteen-twenty blocks away.
Debating seeing the new Harry Potter film today - have a choice between two theaters. The first, doesn't have the most comfortable seating on the planet, but - it is a)closer, b) tends to be cheaper, c)in 3D, and d) less likely to have people chatting and texting during it. The second
is much further, and not in 3D, and usually more expensive (although 3D may tip the balance in the other direction.) I'm not really a fan of 3D - having things flying out at me during a movie, while I'm wearing 3D glasses - tends to give me a head-ache. Personally, I miss the old days when 3 D was relegated to Drive-In B horror flicks that I never saw. We have James Cameron to blame for this.
My window of opportunity to see the film in a theater is rapidly closing - so it's most likely this weekend or on DVD. Harry Potter is one of those films you really do need to see in a movie theater.
Off to make breakfast and maybe watch the last episode of The Wire, which I finally got today (thanks to my neighbors).
