Jun. 3rd, 2012 08:40 pmRewatching X-Men First Class on HBO and am once again reminded why Magneto is my favorite comic character of all time. Oh sure, I've had passing flirtations with Gambit, Iron Man,
Batman, Superman, Cyclops, Spiderman, Wolverine, Shadowcat, Phoenix, and Rogue. But I adore Magneto...he's so delightfully tortured and complex. Also Marvel could never quite decide whether to make him a tortured villain or a tortured hero - which just made him even more interesting.
Favorite ship for Magneto? Definitely Rogue. He's the only one who could keep her power at bay. Although I did love him with Xavier as well.
X-Men First Class in some respects is a smarter and more interesting flick than the Avengers, but that's because it is the X-men, there's not a lot you can do with the Avengers metaphor wise...that hasn't been done a million times already. Not to mention? More female characters!
