Brain drain...
Jul. 2nd, 2012 10:40 pm1. The universe is working hard to make me feel idiotic today. Have this overwhelming urge to slap it. Probably not a good idea...it will slap me back.
2. Psychology always made more sense to me than philosophy. It's more direct and straightforward. All Psychology wants to know is why and how people think the way they do and how that thinking influences their behavior. Philosophy seems to circle around things and asks more questions than it answers like a post-modern abstract poem by way of Mars. It reminds me a lot of religion, probably because it lies behind many religions or is the foundation? Or maybe not. (See #1). But it occurs to me today that...if people use religion to comfort themselves by believing in something greater, they use philosophy to rationalize their existence and provide meaning and justify their actions ...or to nullify it all. Perhaps the curse of humans is we think too much? Or spend far too much time examining our navels and everyone else's as well as the universe's? There's something to be said for mathematics...it lies with more flair than words. And drives people crazier faster trying to disprove each other's theorems and equations...does parallel string theory exist? Are there other dimensions? Or is this yet another religious fantasy? Does God exist? Do we? Does the universe? Do bacteria? Do UFOS and aliens? Do fairies...or are they just bright fireflies you can catch inside a jar?
And if you can make sense of that paragraph...good on you. I certainly can't. Got a headache re-reading it.
3. Does anyone know who the actress is on True Blood that played the fairy flirting with Jason Stackhouse in this past week's episode. She looks familiar but I can't place her.
True Blood by the way is rocking this season. Best Season to Date...hands down. Loving it. So happy I didn't give up on it.
4. Going to bed to read and hopefully not fret too much about work tomorrow. It will come soon enough. Read somewhere that writing in a journal is one way to relieve stress...I think this is true. Writing this post relieved mine. As did the Buffy poll.
