selenak has been posting her adventures in Outer Mongolia.
Some amazing pictures. Go check it out - http://selenak.livejournal.com/923400.html?view=12715272&style=mine#t12715272
Hot, hot, hot day. Felt like the interior of an oven. 98 degrees with a heat index of well above 100. (Basically 40-45 C). Humid. Even the air felt hot. At 6:45 am this morning it was 84 degrees, same temperature as last night. And in cities...it always feels even hotter, because of the cars, and concrete. Weirdly Kansas City was easier to deal with - because less cars and less concrete. On the way home...100 degrees. Thank god for the air conditioned subways and trains. The whole thing was made worse by wearing a heavy black boot, an atheletic sock and a black sneaker with sock. Plus long, albeit light pants, and a short sleeved shirt. I want a hair-cut, but haven't been able to get to a stylist because of the foot. So hair is piled on top of my head in sort of bun with a clip. Lugged my ass from train station to grocery store to buy watermelon and grapes, along with water, juice, and veggies. Came home, put ice on foot - because it was a little swollen, ate watermelon, and slanted my blinds to let in light but keep out heat.
The weather reports a major rain storm coming through the area this weekend, which with any luck will finally break the heat. Cities don't handle weather problems well. Just saying.
