1. Turned bitter cold today. Very happy I took Friday off and got myself a new winter coat, it's longer, with a hood, blue gray, and fake fur lined. The old one - I'd had for 10 years. It was time.

2. Finished watching Almost Human pilot - which I have mixed feelings about. The actors and cast are appealing - I rather like indie actress Lily Taylor as the head of the unit. Also there's a few interesting gadgets, and the set design reminds me a great deal of Blade Runner. But at the end of the day - it's still your run-of-the-mill police procedural/buddy cop drama, of which I have seen far too many in my life time and can sort of predict the entire plot of way before it happens. This genre has been done to death by now - there is nothing new you can say here. So, we'll see how long I stick with it.

That said, it is different from the rest of the police procedurals currently on television (there's a lot of them but they tend to either be guy/gal cops a la Bones, Sleepy Hollow, and Castle, or a team such as CSI, MAOS (Marvel Agents of Shield), The Black List and NCSI or some cop and handler such as Person of Interest) - in that it has the old-fashioned male buddy cop dynamic (except one is an artificial life form) and it takes place in the distant future. Sort of I Robot meets Minority Report by way of Blade Runner and Fringe. Except not as interesting.

3. Off to watch The Good Wife. OUAT will return in two weeks - it got preempted by the American Music Awards and the Thanksgiving Holidays, amongst other tv shows. What's annoying about American Broadcast Television is it likes to take breaks, repeated breaks, which sort of disrupt the storytelling arc.
