1. Snow Armageddon 2015: They're serious about shutting down NYC in preparation for the Storm of the Century or Blizzard of the Century.

* Broadway Shows have been cancelled tonight
* Schools released early and cancelled for tomorrow, Regents Exams Rescheduled
* Barclays and Madison Square Garden Events Cancelled or Postponed.
* 5200 flights cancelled and counting
* Long Island Rail Road and Metro North are shutting down at 11 pm. Last trains at 10.
* Subway on Limited Service After 8pm (they are already transferring some of the trains to storage yards under ground)
* Path Trains run on
* Early release for many city and MTA employees - 2 pm.
* Many highways and roads closed.
* Museums closed
* Some Bus Routes Closed
* 750 snow shovel trucks/plows are en route
* Knicks and Nets Games are rescheduled for March and April
* All non-essential vehicles banned on Long Island Expressway after 9pm.

And everything under a State of Emergency.

Whoa. They really have learned their lesson from 2010 - when 20 inches fell on the city at once and stranded a bunch of folks. This round they aren't taking any chances.

I was more or less ordered to take a personal day or vacation day tomorrow. Note - it's not a paid snow day - I have to use a personal day or vacation day. I chose personal day. I tend to have them remaining usually anyhow.

Really envy my brother who is living it up in Hawaii at the moment.

2. Saw the flick Zero Dark Thirty last night via netflix. Better than expected. It's really about the transformation of Jessica Chastain's CIA Analyst, Maya, who comes to the hunt for Osma Bin Laden right out of college. It shows how it affects her and is in some respects another anti-war film - depicting the toll that violence has on everyone and the insanely high cost, and pointlessness of it.
