Eh, Wednesday Reading Meme?

1. Finished The Spymaster's Lady by Joanna Bourne -- which is basically a historical romance about a French and English Spy during the Napoleonic War. Since the writer is pro-Anglo and Napleon like most populist dictators is not considered a good guy, the female French Spy turns out to be actually English at the end of the book, and helps the English, even if she's feels awful doing it.
Has a bit of a convoluted plot twist, which kind of works. The writing is a notch above most of the books in this genre. The French spy actually thinks and talks like someone who is speaking English as a second language. And the two points of view are distinct and believable. Also, the French spy, Annique is rather brilliant and engaging.

Plus, lots of action. They spend most of the book on the run.

There's about five books in this series, but no need to read in order or all of them. They can stand alone.

2. Reading The Black Hawk by Joanna Bourne -- which I think is book 3 in the series. It's also about a French and English spy but after the Napoleonic War. These two spies knew each other as kids. In the previous book, the French spy (female) shot the English spy (male). He barely survived, with Annique's help in the first book. We didn't meet the French spy (Justine) in the first book -- were just told that she shot him, not why. And that he has a thing for her.

Interesting hero -- Adrian Hawkson or Hawker, is an expert with knives, a theif, a pick-pocket, and the head of the British Intelligence Service. Justine -- Owl, is a former French spy, who at one point told him she'd kill him if she saw him again.

Nice fluffy read.

3. I have no clue what I'm reading next.

Got rid of Premium Channels -- saved $15 a month. Which granted isn't that much. But you do what you can. Considering pulling it down to Value, but don't want to give up National Geographic or CMT just yet. I might though. That saves $25 a month. At some point, I may get rid of cable all together.
