Jan. 22nd, 2018 08:43 pmSo, hmmm...Nora Roberts of all people wrote a romance novel version of Stephen King's The Stand, entitled Year One. For some reason, having read both authors at various points, I find this hilarious. (It should be noted that I prefer Stephen King, which is saying something considering I prefer the romance genre at the moment to the horror genre. Nora is sort of the James Patterson of the romance genre. They have a lot in common actually and fit my definition of 'throw-away books'. While Stephen King is sort of a contemporary/horror genre version of Charles Dickens.)
I found this out reading smartbitches -- which I prefer to The Wicked Wallflower Club for various reasons, among them -- they are little bit more inclusive and discuss various genres. And they seem to be a bit older.
Also tempted to get the Gluten Free Girl Scout Cookies but resisting the urge.
In other news, I'm hunting large print historical and biographical histories for my poor father, who can't read tiny print. According to the Doctor his eyes are pristine and fine and he should be able to. But he can't, so we are hunting large print alternatives.
He wanted to read the latest bio on Leonardo Di Vinci that my mother got for Xmas.
But the print is too small. Also the latest Ron Chernow bio of Grant -- but again print too small. Yet, there is a version coming out in library binding in March. He'd bought the Janet Evaouvich mystery in large print -- but it is boring him (not surprised, she hasn't written anything worth reading since the 2005. And even then.). Having finished the latest John Grisham.
My father loves to read. So I find this painful.
