Reading meme and other things.
Apr. 11th, 2018 10:04 pm1. If you are into audio books, you might want to check THIS out. I prefer reading to listening, I'm a visual person.
And think in pictures and words, not really sounds as much. Also I have a tendency to mishear words. So, talk radio, podcasts and audio books don't work that well for me. I lose the thread half way through. Although...I will admit that I fell in love with the Dresden Files listening to the audio books. Actually in some respects I liked Marsters reading of the books better than when I read them.
(Marsters has a great voice.) I didn't buy them, I had friends who sent them to me on CD's that they taped off of the originals, in an effort to get me hooked on the series. It worked.
This site -- has links to the following audio books, Mansfield Park read by Benedict Cumberbatch, David Tennant and Felicity Jones. Anne of Green Gables, Pride and Prejudice, Venetia by Georgette Heyer, Jane Eyre, among others. It's focused on the voices behind the audio books.
2. Hmmm...The Expanse has started up again. This probably means I should start watching the episodes I have already taped, shouldn't I?
Did delete Scandal from the DVR finally. Because I realized, who am I kidding, I don't care what happens to these people any longer.
3. Not doing a lot of reading, my spare time is spent writing. Got burned out on the romance novels finally. (They are all alike, so I'm writing my own. My own novel is sort of subversive, probably will have to publish it independently. Actually it is subversive. Because that's how I tend to write.)
Reading? The Thief - or The Queen's Thief, Book One of the Queen's Thief Series By Megan Whalen, I think. I can never remember author names. It's YA Fantasy but reads like an adult fantasy novel. About a young man who has been yanked out of prison to steal something for the King's magus. Well written. But considering what I've been reading, that's not hard. I've been on a horrible reading slump lately. DNF so many books.
4. Also been on a youtube Buffy actor Q&A binge. I do not know why. Was watching Jewel Straight(somebody on Firefly can't remember who), Amy Acker (fred/Illyria), Claire Kramer (Glory) and Emma Caulfield (Anya) in one, another with James Marsters (Spike) and Kristine Sutherland(Joyce) (a pairing I like a great deal. I'd see those two in person), Emma and Nick Brendan(Xander), Emma on her own.
Did find out a few interesting things. Also, highly recommend vids with Marsters and another person, such as Nick Brendan and Kristine Sutherland. Also Nick and Emma work well off each other. Why Claire Krammer is in all of these, I don't know. Apparently Glory was more popular with fans than I thought?
