Not a bad day, very pretty, warm and for the most part cheering. Until roughly 4:30 pm, we had pristine blue skies, with barely a cloud in them. And a slight crisp breeze. The flowers were in bloom on some not all of the trees. And the weeping willows sprouted leaves. Spring. Finally spring.

I got up at 7:40 am and left at around 8:45 to get to a doctor's appointment in Prospect Heights. My allergist. But alas, I spaced the whole not taking antihistimines prior to being tested for allergies. What can I say? It's been a rough couple of weeks. Too many balls in the air. And I've been spacing things. Also having sinus headaches and sinus issues at night. So...he did the preliminary test -- so far the only reaction I had was to mold. (I already knew I was allergic to mold. Moving from the last apartment helped greatly in that regard. Because I'm convinced it had black mold -- that was the apartment I'd been in for 16 years, and by the time I left it, I was falling apart, physically speaking. Much better now.) Will see him for part two on April 28. I'm taking a stay-cation the weekend of the 28th. April 27th-April 30th. Two days off. Three doctor's appointments. Need to schedule three more. I decided to wait until the Spring to wander around the city going to the doctors. The City is just easier to traverse in the Spring.

Afterwards, hog-tailed it over to Fort Green, which was about two subway stops away. Could have walked, but back issues and I've no idea how to get there. Decided to go to Old Navy to get jeans. Mainly because I've gained weight and can't fit in any of my jeans, and the only two I can fit into are wearing out in the rear-end. Not in the knees or anywhere which would fit the current fashion, no, between the legs -- which ahem, doesn't quite work. I could patch them, I suppose. Except I'm domestically challenged -- I can't sew. I can cook, clean for the most part, but sew? No. Anything that involves precise measurements, cutting, taping, or sewing is beyond me. (I need to find a significant other who is good at this sort of thing, preferably male, because I'm heterosexual. I don't see it happening, do you? Cooking yes, but I can do that. Sewing? Really not.) Anyhow, I scored at Old Navy -- they had a sale and a wide selection. Although -- what is the deal with the "skinny" jean fad? People denim tights is not cool. It only looks cool on people who have the physique of Kate Moss or no curves, no fat, and are basically sticks like my niece. Everyone else looks ....well, bulgy in them. Also they are really uncomfortable to put on and take off, it's like pulling on tights. They do not fit well over my feet. Nor do I like how they feel on -- too tight, and constricting. The ads say they are super soft and feel great. Really? No. I did manage to find some bootleg curvy jeans and straight cut originals, without a frayed bottom in my size. Both had spandex in them, both were tighter than I'd like, but that's the style. Makes me want to go spank a clothing designer.

Another thing? What is with the torn denim style? It's ugly. It is not attractive. It looks trendy.
Stop it. Target was filled with nothing but torn denim jeans and faded jeans, which I can't wear on a site tour, at work on Fridays, or anywhere for that matter. Why can't they design jeans for adults not ten year olds?

Again, makes me want to kick these designers. I know you are bored. But seriously? People have to wear this. That and the no pockets thing in women's pants. Ugh.

Did however find a couple of great draw-string capri style linen pants. Super-comfortable, also tight in the calf, but they work for the most part. And several great summery shirts, two of which I could wear to work. Score.

And everything was 15%-20% or 40% off. They wanted me to apply for a store credit card for an additional 15% off. But I don't shop at Old Navy that often. Also really don't need another credit card.

After that, took the subway home and wrote in long-hand on the subway. Wrote in long-hand at the doctor's office as well -- in a binder. Been writing a story instead of reading on my commute. As a result I'm woefully behind on my Good Reads Reading Challenge. Don't care. I've read more books and forgotten more books in my life time than most people have read. And in a bit of a reading slump anyhow. Am enjoying for the most part Megan Whalen's The Thief. It's better written than most.
But don't have much time to read. It cuts into my writing time.

Then fixed lunch, watched Grey's Anatomy, which after talking to my mother about on the phone, I apparently missed half of. She kept telling me things that I don't remember watching. I was busy making and eating lunch during it. In short it did not hold my attention very well. Took off after it for a walk to the grocery store. Took some pictures. Picked up groceries. No sweets, unless you count red wine, and a wine spritzer, and a Dandalion Probiotic...they have sugar in them, unfortunately. Very hard to find things that do not have sugar in them. And frustrating. But hey, I'm off of all of the obvious stuff.

Also saw Station 19 -- which I have mixed feelings about. I like it. But it has weak bits.
The supporting cast is interesting, and the lead is likable. But. Anyhow, watching mostly for Cress, who was on Grey's.

Cancelled or Deleted Once Upon a Time finally. For same reasons deleted Scandal. I don't care what happens to any of the characters. And it's just taking up space on the DVR. It would be one thing if there was NOTHING else to watch. But fortunately there is. So..

Saw a post, I think it was wendalh's? That quoted someone on LJ upset about writing long posts and getting no responses. Yep. Been there done that. Happened a lot on LJ towards the end. Which was one of the many reasons I gave up on LJ. But it's also the nature of social media. You, the writer of the post, have absolutely no way of knowing what someone else will respond to, or control over it. Their response, while wonderful (at least for the most part, sometimes it really isn't), doesn't necessarily mean they read the entire post or at all. Also if you receive no responses, doesn't mean others haven't read the post. They just have zip to say about it or can't add to it. Also, sometimes it's better to say nothing than well... I've learned that over the years. Doesn't mean I don't want responses. I'm a writer, of course I want responses. I crave the interaction. Or I'd do this on Word Press which has almost no interaction.

But..I understand why there aren't responses, at least intellectually at any rate.
