May. 11th, 2018 09:31 pm1. Hmmm...decisions decisions...shopping at Lord & Taylor or seeing Avengers Infinity War with a dear friend on Saturday?
Guess what I chose?
That's right seeing Avengers Infinity War with a dear friend. Seriously. I hate shopping.
Neither of us have seen it yet. I'm beginning to think we're last to the party. We were among the first to see Black Panther (which was the better movie by the way and the game changer, also more politically correct), but among the last to see Avengers Infinity War.
2. In other news...some nitwit romance novelist attempted to trademark the word Cocky for a bunch of smutty romance novels.
Defending herself in FB, she said she's just protecting her brand..."Cocky Cowboy", etc.
Anyway here's the story.
She's certainly not the first nor the only one to try the trademark thing:
* Chicago Preacher Fights Spike Lee Over the Word Chiraq
* Spike Lee Tried To Copyright Spike and Sued Spike TV
I find myself equally amused and irritated by this. The trademark attorney in me is thinking, how did it get this far? Is the Trademark Office crazy? Fire the nitwit who approved it! NOW. And the absurdist comedian in me is laughing her head off. Of all the words to trademark? Cocky? Really? And people wonder why the romance genre has a bad rep.
3. Well, my mother and I are contemplating quitting the soap we've watched for the last twenty some years. Well to be fair off and on for the last thirty some years. Every once and a while we will get fed up with it and give up. We've reached that point now. The writing has hit an all-time low. It's colossally bad. I got into soaps by discussing them with my Mom. She was hilarious, she'd explain it in detail.
I deleted the episode for today without watching and watched Big Bang Theory instead. The last two episodes, with the Season Finale. The Season Finale was hilarious, it had Kathy Bates, Maya (the gal from SNL), Mark Hamil, Will Wheaton, the actress from Roseanne (not Roseanne but the one who plays her sister, whose name I suddenly blanked on). Mark Hamil was adorable. I adore Mark Hamil. I honestly think he's the only one I'd want to meet in person at a convention. Him and Ben Browder.
Yes, Star Wars fan. My first true fandom was Star Wars.
I'm a geek and a nerd, I admit it.
