FB: Please share your thoughts on politically incorrect and highly opinionated activist commentator of free speech who is suing author for calling him a misogynist. (Provides various links to the discourse on the topic.)
Me: I don't know if he's a misogynist, never heard of him frankly (nor do I want to and really not interested in reading a discussion about him, sounds like a creep that I preferred not knowing existed thank you very much). But from this sentence alone? He's certainly a hypocrite who doesn't get that the problem with free speech is you have to put up with folks saying stuff you don't like. The definition of "Free" is that everyone has the right to "free" speech not just you.

Sigh. People. Sigh.

Leave it to FB to make me dislike people. At times I wonder, as I'm sure you do as well, why I continue with it. Weirdly FB wonders why I'm still on DW.

FB: I haven't been to LJ in forever.
Me: Neither have the rest of us, we all moved to DW.
FB: What is DW? That's old news. We, socially media alert and aware folks have long moved on.
Me: Well, I'm not on social media for the same reasons you guys are.

FB. Sigh. FB.

Moderator on FB Fanpage: C is a total hypocrite she's been in B's place in the past, when she stole AJ's kid.
Me: Eh, no. She was Michael's mother. B is not Wiley's parent. He took a kid and replaced his dead adoptive kid with that one. She just lied about the paternity. Not the same thing. And she did it because she was afraid they'd take her kid away from her and hurt him. He did it because he wanted an adoptive baby and decided to let the real father, who is his partner's nephew grieve for his child and think his child is dead instead.
Moderator: She's the same. She stole Nicky's kid from him.
Me: Eh, no. That was J, she found out about it after the fact. And saved the kid's life, by sacrificing her own life to save his.
Moderator: one good deed doesn't erase all the bad. She's horrible and a hypocrite.

Sigh. Soap Opera Shippers are Bug Shagging Crazy. Sigh.

Seriously? Buffy fandom has nothing on soap opera shippers.

Also as an aside on moderated fan boards: I've only really been on three that I felt were moderated well. Whedoneseque, ATPOBTVS, and Buffy Cross & Stake. All three had moderators who for the most part permitted people to say what they wanted about the series, without bullying them into conforming to their own shippy views, formatting or saying things in a specific way, or restricting how they said things or what they posted on for the most part. Granted we didn't tend to curse on these forums. Or it was prohibited and people followed that guideline. Also most people were fairly like-minded, and weirdly, we weren't quite as politically divisive and hateful back then. I can't help but wonder if it was because the internet was still in its early stages of development, and quite a few assholes hadn't found it yet? Or it's just the subject matter. I mean you really can't expect intelligent and rational people to be frequenting a soap opera fan board.

Uncle (Catholic Priest -- every Irish Catholic Family has at least one): Trump has done some good.
Mother: Like what?
Uncle: He did away with some unnecessary regulations.

Sigh. Family. Sigh.

Time for a stiff drink. Okay not that stiff. I can't drink whiskey and still feel my teeth.

Cousin's hubby: How you liking the mint julep?
ME: What is in this?
Cousin's hubby: Bourbon and a bit of sugar and mint
Me: Eh...I won't be able to feel my teeth in fifteen minutes.
Cousin's hubby: Want it watered down? You don't have to drink it - I thought you could handle hard alcohol?
ME: Well, not that hard. For some reason, I thought mint juleps were more like moquitos...
Cousin's hubby: That's with rum. I can fix you one of those?
Cousin: Fix her a vodka tonic already.

Sigh.
