Jul. 5th, 2019 08:08 pm1. We're (me and a bunch of X-men comics fans) having fun trying to figure which X-men Marvel hasn't killed off at some point. So far, all we've come up with is Gambit. And there's a lot of X-men. ( Read more... )
2. Watching Stranger Things -- and it's really hard to watch during the day, the show is so darkly lit. Similar to Game of Thrones and Sabrina. I really wish they'd stop doing this -- although on the plus side, it's sort of hard to be scared of something you can't see.( Read more... )
3. Also watching David Tennant and Catherine Tate presentation of Much Ado About Nothing on Youtube -- it's hilarious. Tennant and Tate are truly good physical comedians, and they both seem to know how to act Shakespeare and make it seem like they are talking normally. If you aren't a fan of Shakespeare, you should check it out. And if you are a fan of Tate and Tennant, most definitely check it out.
4. Got bloodwork done this morning, then swung by various food stores, picking up rainbow trout for dinner, gluten free world's best mac and cheese with Beecher's Cheese (exported from Seattle), Morracan Crab Soup, Gazapacho soup, among other things.
Took a long walk to do it. Walked 2.7 miles yesterday and about 2 miles today.
Which is about average for me. I need to start doing 3-5 mile walks. But feet and back aren't quite there yet.
Doc wants to see me again in September. So, going back then. Probably want more blood work. Oh well, at least the blood work doesn't cost me anything but time.
5. Been trying to watch The Good Fight S1 on CBS. They are airing the first season this summer in the hopes viewers will get hooked and watch on CBS All-Access. Eh. Not happening for me. If I try CBS All-Access -- it will be for Star Trek Discovery. They'd have been better off doing the first season of that show.
The Good Fight is biting political/legal satire. My problem with it -- is right now, that sort of thing just reminds me of how much I hate our current government and political situation. During the show, I start to want to throw things at the television screen. It's making me furious.
I found The Good Wife hilarious, but it was also airing prior to 2016. And political satire was funny back then, because it was ludicrous and not real. Now it has become reality and I find myself sickened by it and wanting to dismantle the people responsible. Which of course I can't. Can't do a damn thing.
6. I'm reminded of why the 4th of July irritates me in NYC at times. ( Read more... )
