1. Watched the first two episodes of Andrew Davies' Sandition tonight -- and it's a keeper. Enjoyed it greatly. It felt similar to the book I adored ages ago, when I was in my early twenties. I haven't read the book since then, and I am willing to bet Davies varied from it greatly -- since the book I read had finished the unfinished manuscript by Austen, just as Davies' is. But if you want to stay true at all to Austen -- it will be more or less in the same vein.

What Davies has done right is made a few characters that I remember being irritated by in the book -- much more interesting and well-rounded, such as Georgina Lamb, who is a lovely character her. She's from the West Indies, and her mother had been a slave, now she's an heiress and the reluctant ward of Sir Sydney Parker. It's also given Heywood more to do -- she's more involved with the creation of the sea side town with Mr. Tom Parker.

Anyhow, I'm enjoying it greatly. It's also sexier than Austen. Heywood witnesses Clara Barton giving Edward Rochester a hand job (she doesn't see the actual hand job, just that they are lying together rather intimately, Clara tells her it was well very intimate, and Rochester tells his sister what it was, while Clara informs Rochester's half-sister that she'd learned how at an early age). And well, Heywood also accidentally happens upon Mr. Sydney Parker skinny dipping in the ocean.

This is somewhat risque Austen.

2. Mother informed me that Alex Karev -- on Grey's Anatomy, has left Grey's Anatomy. His last episode aired in November. After 15 years with the series. It's on its 16th season, and has just been renewed for another season. I think I may be done with it after this year.

3. The OSCAR Nominations were released. I'm unimpressed. Don't feel a lot of interest in a majority of the films, also it is somewhat predictable.

My bets are :

I'm tired of awards shows though. There's too many of them. And they don't really highlight the interesting innovative films that much.

There were some interesting films released in 2019 that I still would like to check out - such as Hustlers, The Souvenir, Parasite, Just Mercy, Queen & Slim...

I don't have any interest in The Joker (I hated the film it was based on, have no interest in seeing another darker version of it), 1917 - is supposed to be beautifully shot (But I dislike WAR films), Once Upon a Time in Hollywood looks like a self-indulgent masturbation on Hollywood by a sexist video store geek, and sigh The Irishman is just another gangster film. No one I know like A Marriage Story.
Little Women is yet another take on a classic. Ford vs. Ferrari is yet another race car film for boys.

The only interesting film nominated was Parasite.

Last year's crop was a lot more interesting. Just saying. This year's slate is kind of lame and forgettable. How much you want to bet the only movie on the list remembered ten years from now is Parasite?
