Feb. 15th, 2020 06:13 pm1. Just finished doing laundry, was going to wait until Monday, then thought - eh I'll try today and just go with the flow. Glad I got it done. Doing laundry in a complex with 77 units, and only four washers and three huge gas dryers...can be challenging. The laundry room itself isn't all that bad -- it's in the basement, the only access is a creaky 1920s elevator at the moment. (They are in the process of replacing the other one, which had a habit of getting stuck between floors.) But it's well lit, has books shelves with every book and DVD imaginable on them. (People dump their left-over DVDs and Books in the basement.) And has chairs, which are not impossible to sit in. Plus two tables to sort laundry, and three laundry carts. Not to mention four laundry baskets in case people forget and end up leaving their laundry. So not at all bad, in fact it's among the better ones that I've seen in my lifetime. Also better than a laudramat - anywhere is better than a laundramat. No, the difficulty can be getting a machine. Last weekend - I tried to do it on Sunday, and discovered Sunday's are impossible - everyone does it on Sunday or the people with five loads do it on Sunday. There's a lot of young couples and families in this building - and Sunday is popular with the families and young couples.
But today was almost zen. No one really in the room. Went quickly. No stress. Laundry Zen! I needed a day like today, where I could just watch tv and veg and do laundry. Even saw the cutest little dog in the elevator. I greet the dogs not the people. I feel sorry for the dogs, they have to put up with these annoying people.
If it weren't for the people the dogs could roam free and do what they want. (Been seeing too many trailers on TV for Call of the Wild -- which has horrible CGI. That dog does not look real, neither does Harrison Ford for that matter. The both look digitized and by amateurs. CGI does not work for a whole movie folks, you'd think they'd have figure that out with CATS.)
Me: Cute dog, what's his name? (Looked like a black bull dog mixed with a rottweiler, probably was a rottweiler - what I know about dogs could be put in a thumbnail.)
Owner: Mitsu. Why he felt the need to go on the walk with a bone in his mouth, I've no idea. He wouldn't let go of it.
ME (looking at the dog, who is clutching a red toy bone and looking at me with big sad eyes): He didn't want to go outside without his security blanket. I get it. I wouldn't either.
Owner: Yeah, it's a bit creepy out there.
Me: Yep, scary world. I'd want a security blanket too.
2. It was a good day to stay inside and do basically nothing but cry in front of melodramas on television. My period started yesterday, hence the crying at television melodramas. ( Read more... )
3. Anyhow, it was a good day to stay inside and away from people. For the first time all week, I feel calm, peaceful and content. Not stressed out. Not worried. Not frustrated. Not furious. It's lovely. This soft floating feeling of calm.
I have been meditating this week and that has helped a great deal. Each guided meditation on different theme. ( Read more... )
4. Fixing a frozen almond crust pizza from Capella's - which uses natural ingredients and substitutes almond flour for rice, corn, wheat, etc -- which many folks like myself can no longer tolerate without getting ill. ( Read more... )
5. For Lucifer fans? Netflix is thinking about Sixth Season, and in talks with Warner Brothers to extend. Because Netflix apparently doesn't think it has enough television shows? I'm not complaining. Or maybe they saw Season 5, loved it, and want more? Really who knows with Netflix. It's a very odd group -- and we can thank them for changing how television is viewed and movies are viewed forever.
Don't get too excited. I'm still waiting on the second seasons of A Discovery of Witches, and Rosewell. I was told they were coming too. It's hard to keep track of what has been renewed or cancelled.
I've been told by Chidi at work that I should check out HBO's The Outsider, it's apparently really good. (But I've so much too watch that I've no time. I still haven't gotten to The Watchmen and Sabrina or finished Sandition, which I lost interest in after getting accidentally spoiled on the ending.)
6. It occurs to me that I'm less cranky today because I actually slept 7-8 hours for once. That and the period started.
