1. Getting ready to re-watch Tangled, which I last watched about three or four years ago. It's actually a comforting flick for this time of self-isolation. I know, I know, I should be watching "Together - At Home" on all the networks, but I'm taping it - so I can fast-forward over the annoying bits. (There's always annoying bits in those things, plus commercials - which have been grating on my nerves lately.)

I'm irritable as all get-out. And my moods are all over the place. Lovely thing perimenopause - it's its own special brand of torture. And like my sister-in-law, I appear to have been in it forever! perimenopause rant ) Oh, well, I can feel the irritablity fading as we speak, along with the hot flash. It happened after I treated myself to almond flour spinach and cheese ravioli with tomato marinara sauce, topped with parmesene and ground pepper. My comfort food. My body was like - yeah, that's your mind's version of comfort food - we wanted broccoli, summer squash and a salad, you dope. PAY! PAY! My mind and my body aren't often in sync.

Trying to stay away from the internet today. Particularly conversations on it. Irritability and the internet are unmixy things. Someone will invariably make some innocent remark that will piss me off - and I'll feel the need to set them straight. Only to regret it later. Best not to read it to begin with.

2. Anyhow, my food delivery arrived. It was in reality only two-three days late. Was supposed to arrive on Thursday between 12 noon and 8pm and arrived on Saturday at 11 AM. It could be worse. I was somewhat relieved. Also, I may have gotten another batch of chocolate today - but I'll check tomorrow. Two trips to check for packages was enough. Every time I leave my apartment (not the building, my apartment), I have to put on a mask. And it's kind of hard to go down the steps with a mask on, the mask drifts up and I can't see past it to see the steps. Also can't use the railings, because, hello, virus. I suppose I could use the elevator - but I hate elevators - particularly this one - it's kind of scary. Plus exercise. Just trying to avoid tripping down the steps and breaking my neck - because that would be bad.
The steps and hallways are stone, hard, and I'd seriously injure myself if I feel down those steps. They aren't typically unsafe - actually much safer than the steps in the last apartment. They just are hard with a mask.

I was somewhat annoyed with said food delivery. Ordering food in this day and age is kind of like playing grocery roulette. I ordered salmon and got orange roughy - and I do not like orange roughy. Read more... )

3. Meanwhile the sane people of the US (government and otherwise, basically everyone I know and 98% of the one's I'm related to) are still busy fighting the greedy, self-centered, bigoted whiny idiots to save our country, economy, and lives from the Coronavirus and well, mainly the idiots. Want to know why the US has more cases than anyone else? Or more deaths for that matter? This is why. Political ideological protesting is all well and good, as is religious gatherings for that matter, except during a pandemic, people.

Someone asked which zombie movie the snap shot of "stupid protesters protesting the Stay at Home Orders en mass" reminded them of? They wisely answered: "Shaun of the Dead". Yep, we are trapped in the Twilight Zone version of Shaun of the Dead. You'd think there'd be more jokes. I have a feeling zombie movies and pandemic movies will hit a lull for a bit after this is over.

Honestly, you'd think the virus was bad enough. Read more... )

Michigan is having troubles with idiotic protestors who want the golf courses and cottages opened up for them. My Aunt (mother's younger and remaining sister) who lives up in Kalamzoo or Chelsea County, is furious at them. Read more... )

My cousins in Illinois on my father's side are living pay-check to pay-check, and are working part time as essential workers.Read more... )

Meanwhile, the relatives in Florida, are hunkering down.Read more... )

Oh, that's not all - former Minister of Church, who I've friended on FB and stay in touch with via FB, told the following story: A man who had the virus, survived it, and tested negative, went to test for antibodies and donate them. He was nervous about it, because he had never given blood before. When they asked him why, he said it was because he hadn't been permitted to, because he is a gay man. They stopped and said, and you will not be permitted to do it today. This happened in New York.

Okay. I really hope after this went viral, someone found the two nitwits who said that and fined them. If you don't know about HIV testing and how it works, you have no business working in the medical field in any capacity. And I for one, do not want you sticking a needle into my arm and taking blood.

Some good news, Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham for the first time in their lives are in danger of losing their seats next year. I still think 2020 may do in the Republican Party as we know it, along with a lot of other things.

Watershed years are painful. Just saying.

4. Overall, I'm fine. I may try to take a walk again tomorrow. It was raining off and on today, and chilly and overcast - so I didn't mind staying in. I'd say there'd be less people out - but there are a lot of dog owners in my building and neighborhood. They are out regardless of what is happening. Often without masks - because they figure they are just walking the dog. My father wondered if the dogs were wearing masks. No, the dogs to my knowledge haven't caught it from people yet. And they can't give it to us. Personally, I'm more of a cat person than a dog person. You don't have to do all that much with a cat. But as luck would have it - I'm more allergic to cats than dogs, allergic to both - just more to cats. I do like watching the cats wander about in the backyards outside my window - three floors down.

Entertainment wise? Outside of watching the cats and birds out my window, I'm watching cartoons on Hulu and Disney +

To date?

* Runaways - not a cartoon. Finished S3. It's okay. Had maybe three good episodes in there, rest of the season was rather slow and kind of weak. Not surprised it wasn't renewed by Disney. They also did a cross-over with Cloak and Dagger - without really explaining to anyone who Cloak and Dagger actually were.
I knew - because well, I'm a Marvel fan and just happen to know this stuff.
James Marsters didn't have all that much to do in it - none of the parents really did, outside of maybe Nico's Mom, Tina and Gerdt's Mom. The female characters had stronger roles than the male characters in Runaways, which in a way was a plus and kind of subversive. Also the best romance in Runaways was the lesbian romance.

* Frozen II - weak in the song department, also the first half was a bit slow and not the best, the second half makes up for it big time. Actually the second half was kind of brilliant in the animation department - and had one decent song in it, the one the Lapland people sing. And it ended in a better place than the first. So the first one had better songs, the second one had a better plot/animation/ and story.

* Steven Universe - I'm still enjoying with caveats. spoilers )

Right now, my favorite episode is the Bubble Episode, or Episode 6 and the one that followed it, 7.
