So what day are you all on?

It's beautiful outside my window. Grumble. Grumble. The sky is a clear mottled robin's egg blue, with the mere hint of clouds somewhere out in the horizon as a kind of transparent white backdrop. The leaves of the trees outside my window are dappled with sunlight, varying shades of green as a result. What I wouldn't do for a terrace - but terraces come at a premium in Brooklyn. So alas, no.

Decided not to do a walk after yesterday's frustratingly stressful human being obstacle course. debating taking a walk around Greenwood Cemetery and/or doing laundery )

Yes, I'm feeling guilty for not walking more and getting more exercise during a pandemic, when I'd most likely be better off not leaving the apartment. That amuses me to no end. Regarding the laundry issue? Apparently I'm not alone in fretting over this. Read more... )

Crazy Ass Work Place

Coworkers are apparently as bored as I am. Today Lando provided us with his top secret Face Down Sangria Recipe, which he suggests using in lieu of Lysol to disinfect yourself.

Family Matters and FB

Well, another family member thinks they have COVID. Read more... )

Oh, said family member stated in their post that they were worried people would defriend them or treat them as a pariah, because apparently people are doing that? Really? This thing is starting to remind me a bit of the AIDS crisis. Some people do not handle fear and anxiety well.

Mother talked to her sister in Michigan today. Her sister is a life-long Republican who despises Trump. Really hates him. And is upset she can't help.Read more... )

Pop Culture News

Hmmm...Ruby Rose is leaving the role of Batwoman after this year, it will be recast. Wow. She was the best thing in it. I admittedly haven't watched any episodes past the first five. I have a lot on my DVR.
I kind of burned out on the DC Superhero Television Series a while back.

Learned two people from the soap I watch contracted COVID, one is Emma Samms, in the UK, she played Holly on the soap back in the day, and was slated to return - but may not, now that she has contracted the disease.
No one else got it.

New York vs. the Corona Virus

New York's Governor keeps getting flack for not shutting down sooner. my daily rant about this, I'm willing to give Cuomo flack but not about this )

Anyhow...latest email from New York Governor...

New York's Contact Tracing Program is the most ambitious in the country.

Here's how it works: Read more... )[ See, New York is "test happy" or obsessed with testing.]

Here are photos from my walk yesterday through Greenwood Cemetery. I decided to take photos of flowers this round. I was in that sort of mood. They were planting a lot of trees in the cemetery though - I saw a lot of newly planted or soon to be planted trees. I'm thinking a cool job would be a landscaper or gardener in Greenwood Cemetery. (Although I am not a gardener - so not for me.)

1. John Scalzi on yesterday's post - asked what people have been splurging on during the pandemic, assuming people can splurge on anything. Most can't.
I've been buying chocolate. Not sure that's splurging though - since I was doing that before.

Anyhow I read the comments, and had to look stuff up. Because honestly, I had no idea what a lathe or a crinkonle board is...it also made me wonder about people - although I've been wondering about people for a while now, it's my new favorite hobby.

One guy bought a LATHE that was small enough to cart up the flight of stairs to his apartment.

Another person bought a Crokinole Board.

John just bought duck fat gourmet carmels and Salt and Vinegar caramels.
Someone else bought gourmet fudge chocolates from a place in Oklahoma.

Most people bought books. And chocolate - like myself.

On Amazon? People are buying Tiny Houses for their backyards. (Uhm, okay.)

I just want to find disinfectant spray.

2. The COVID MAP of DOOM indicates that Russia is trying to catch up with the US in Covid cases. Read more... )

3. Meanwhile, mother nature is doing just fine... Everest visible from Kathmandu Nepal for the First Time in Ages - and most likely thinks she should have come up with the virus idea a lot earlier.

4. Weird as Hell - COVID Patients with Symptoms for Months

Okay this makes me wonder if the damn thing went through my work place in November. Because we had weird symptoms that lasted a while then disappeared. Then came back. I remember googling my symptoms in November - and finding nothing. I put it down to allergic reactions. And I had issues all the way up to March. I even got a chest X-ray. It came and went.

It's not until March/April that I'm fine. Then again I could have allergies.

And...it fits my Aunt - who has been sick with something since Feb that has weird ass symptoms. Also my sister-in-law who said she thought she was dying and had never had anything that weird before.

I feel like the virus is gaslighting us.

5. Hee, Penquins at the Nelsen-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City - apparently the Kansas City Zoo and the Museum caretakers got bored and decided to share?
