Day #27 of the 30 Day Film Challenge.

The prompt is A Film That Made You Uncomfortable

Hmm..I don't know about this category. I tend to avoid films that make me uncomfortable or try to. Also I forget them. I'm very good at forgetting things. There is however one film that still bothers me due to a famous sequence with Johnny Depp - it was among Johnny Depp's first films..

I'd been warned off of it by my brother - but I saw it with a bunch of friends freshman year of college anyhow...

Followup, since people keep picking two films...I saw this film on television after my mother reported seeing it and absolutely hating it. It made her uncomfortable and she ranted about it. The mere fact that she actually went to see it with a friend in the movie theater - amused me. Because I just can't see her actually watching this.. I can't remember the movie at all, except I found it to be cringe-inducing in places, absurdly amusing in others, kind of boring, and I disliked all the characters. Honestly, it's the sort of film you want to watch to remind yourself that being single is not so bad and men are gross, selfish jerks.

Day #1 of the 30 Day Television Challenge

The prompt is A Television Series that should never have been cancelled

Note, there are ones that have been resurrected and they don't count. If it got saved, you can't pick it. Only those television series that got cancelled and weren't saved.

Also, you can't pick the same one that someone else picked. What would be the fun in that? This is a challenge after all. Try not to pick two - since it makes it harder for someone else. (Although there's A LOT of cancelled television shows out there...that should have been rescued.)

I found a show that makes me laugh --- how long it will is anybody's guess. It's anthology entitled The Goes Wrong Show - based on The Play That Goes Wrong. An amateur dramatic society performs a series of half-hour plays for television, all of which go terribly wrong.

It's hilarious. Or I find it hilarious - reminds me of Noises Off. I've a background in theater - so that helps, I guess. Also I love absurdist comedy or when things go wrong and people kind of just deal with it.

That's how I'm getting through this year - laughing at the craziness.

Also been binge-watching Teen Wolf - the first season was better than expected. Humorous in places - kind of satiric, and what it does right that a lot of series in this genre do wrong - is it gives the adults agency and a role in the proceedings. Also not everybody is beautiful. Stiles or the actor who plays Stiles comes across as a nerdy, struggling teenage geek - he looks like a teenager. The actors on Buffy and Vamp Diaries didn't. They were all too pretty for words. These actors are a little less pretty, a little more awkward and look like teenagers.

Both are on Amazon Prime.

But, it's nowhere near as well written as Buffy was. But I haven't found a paranormal series that is - say what you will about Whedon and his writers, they were aces at dialogue. They even created their own slang.

That said, Teen Wolf surprised me - it's much better than the films it was adapted from, and it has an interesting lead in Tyler Posey. Does need to work on the female characters a bit, also it's a bit on the cheesy side at the moment. But I understand it gets better as it goes - and it held my attention. There's six seasons apparently, with 12 episodes each in the first three before it jumps to 20 episodes each in the later seasons - which may have resulted in its cancellation after season 6 - I'm guessing money issues.
