Made it to an episode of Friends that had Ross's lesbian ex-wife - and I got confused, I thought she was the "hot girl" who Joey was into, because the two actresses had the same hair, same coloring, and height. Also it was right after the episode that Ross was hooking up with the "hot girl". I should also add that the humor is beginning to grate. I don't binge sitcoms well - sooner or later the jokes start to annoy me, mainly because the writers have begun to repeat themselves?

Another thunderstorm clicked through - which cleared out some of the humidity and nervous energy. Bit jumpy there for a while - the lighting felt like it was coming through the window, and the lights flashed at one point. Happened right as I was wrapping up work.

I don't understand why they feel the need to send me back to my office, I'm doing splendidly at home. They will get less work from me - since I have to work in an hour and 15 minute commute or the equivalent of two hours and a half round-trip.

The Governor keeps posting videos of NY Coming Back on FB and the news.

Here's the latest AD.

Meanwhile Crazy Org - decided to get new leadership. This is not news. In fact it's hard to care. They have been changing out the leadership every two-four years if that. In fact, it got so frequent, that we gave up adding their name to the letter head. We now just list all the agencies. I mean it was starting to get ridiculous - every one-two years, we'd have to get new letterhead. We've changed letter head so many times...

COVID

Right now - the race is on to get as many folks vaccinated as possible, so they can lift more restrictions. And they are kind of going over board. Central Park is planning a huge concert sometime in July - with a limit of 60,000 in attendance. (It's being televised - which works for me, I just watch it on my big screen tv.)

And Washington Square Park apparently had police incident last night. The cops with full riot gear marched through the park to clear it, and close it by 10pm. The Parks Service had decided to impose a curfew and called the cops to enforce it. Normally parks are open until 12 Am. But alas, they were running into issues with over-crowding and litter. I don't really blame them - I saw the video, that park was packed. Sure folks were chilling, but en mass.

I don't understand people. Why would you want to chill in a crowded park at night? With no lights? Or go to a crowded concert? What is the appeal of a crowd?

I don't know - am I nuts for wanting to wait a bit longer before I engage with the world? I do - I want to wait until July 2. I'm heading back into the office on July 6, as soon as the reasonable accommodation expires.
People in my neighborhood are still wearing masks, and they haven't exactly done away with the mask edict.

Mother is hanging in there - sometimes from our phone chats, I think by a thread. She misses my Dad. Does visit him - but its difficult. Today she took a break and went to get a haircut. They've informed her that she can visit him more now - than before, and even spend time with him in his room, to watch television. Which will give her the opportunity to check his hear monitor.

1. Entertaining myself with Twitter...

Poster: I am so glad everyone hates this storyline. It's the great unifier.
Me: Well, not everyone, there appears to be at least 30 people (if I'm being generous) who like it. Granted it's 30 out of over 10,000 but whatever.

Soap fandoms are fun.

Fan: I'm a longtime fan of this show and you've finally lost me with this story-line. I'm gone, I tell you. I really tried to hang on but I just can't take it any longer.
The actor who is in the storyline tweets in response: A puppy with hangdog expression - "I'm Sorry".

And I burst out laughing. Yes, it's a horribly written storyline but it is also a daytime soap opera - I mean kind of par for the course. I'm fast-forwarding through it.

And.."I don't think fans realize what a feat WR accomplished. No one knew if he was evil or good, it remained a mystery. And that's hard for an actor to pull off..."

Me: Eh, I'm guessing you aren't watching the show you are on? Because I could tell the character was pure evil. It was kind of obvious.

The problem with actors on soaps and long-running serials, is they want people they love working with to remain, and those they don't to leave. But
from an audience's perspective? We only care about what is on screen. The actor could be the nicest person on the planet - but if their character isn't working - it's not working. I'm not sure actors get this. It's not up to them - it's up to the audience and the writers. You may be a nice guy in reality, but if you aren't written and directed that way...

2. Neil Gaiman is really pulling out all the stops to sell NETFLIX's Sandman franchise.

Behind the Scenes with Neil on Sandman

Netflix grabbed Sandman when it lost its Marvel properties. Smart move. Sandman has a huge fandom. Also, it fits with the rest of Netflix's edgy, subversive, diverse content.

And Netflix already has the Lucifer series. Although I think I'll like Sandman better - Lucifer has gotten really silly.

3. Kermit and Fozzie Bear Have an Existential Crisis..

Kermit and Fozzie have an existential crisis

Kermit: You aren't a real bear.
Fozzie: What do you mean? I'm a real bear.

I will never forgive us for letting parent groups force the cancellation of The Muppets (2015) because it wasn't cute enough to meet their preconceptions of the Muppets. It was more accurate to Henson than anything since his death!

Sigh, why anyone would let parent groups dictate anything is beyond me.
