Whoa...the lightening was intense tonight. My body hates thunderstorms. I get edgy. And every nerve ending wants to pop. It's like I want to jump out of my skin. And I can literally taste the electricity in the air.

Some people love thunderstorms, but they tend to make me ill. Don't give me migraines any longer, at least. For a few years there - I was getting migraine headaches whenever we had one.

It's drifting away now, the lightening is less intense. But for a while there it was flashing next to my window, and the lights briefly went out.
It made me jump actually. A blast of thunder, a flash of light, the light flipped off then on again, while rain pounded the building from all sides.

Is it just me, or have the thunderstorms become more frequent and gotten worse with time? Hard to know really.

I stopped procrastinating, and arranged to go up and see my brother and his family the weekend of July 23rd.Read more... )

Anyhow, suffice it to say - I will not be posting on July 23 - July 25, I'll miss two days, unless I try to back date. I doubt you'll mind or notice all that much. Consider it a much needed break. [Note I have not skipped a day, I have made posts access only - if they regard crazy workplace too closely or family - because well, I don't think I need to explain that.]

Elsa's gone now. Thank god. Feel so much better. The storm lasted about an hour. Dumped a ton of rain, and had a lot of lightening in that period - I'm betting there's power outages and downed limbs.

On Instagram - sisinlaw posted this long post about someone who was doing a Go Fund Me regarding a Garden in New Orleans. Then she took it down. I went to look for it just now - and it's gone. It was odd though - this woman had this dream of rebuilding her grandmother's garden in New Orleans - after it floated away after Hurricane Katrina. So she got the city to provide her with a plot of public land. She planted things like Jasmine, flowers, artichokes, and of all things cactus. I didn't understand the cactus. I'm no expert, but doesn't cactus require a dry, arid climate? Anyhow after a year or so of work - the city came along and mowed down her garden.

I know I shouldn't have found that funny? But I did. Read more... )

The other bit that amused me on Instagram, which I guess also fits my sick sense of humor is Mark Hamil keeps posting all of the merchandise that exists regarding his character's (Luke) chopped off hand in Empire Strikes Back. I didn't realize they'd actually made merchandise, such as action figures, games, legos, etc of Luke's severed hand? But they actually did this. The latest he posted was a lego box set of his severed hand. And Hamill's discovered it and is having a blast posting about it in Instagram and Twitter.

* President Biden put Vladimir Putin on notice: Act against Russian hackers, or the U.S. will strike back.

Apparently, The US has finally gotten fed up with the idiotic Russian Hackers. They've only been doing this off and on since 2015. US to Russia: Take care of this problem, or we will. And you really don't want us to take action - because since we can't seem to find the hackers ourselves, we'll retaliate against you directly.

2. Meanwhile...in Haiti...
It's so bad, that Haiti got desperate and is now begging its upstairs neighbor, the US, to send troops to help out )

COVID

* The Governor is busy hopping about the State opening up economic interests. First Legoland, now the Jacob Javits Center - which has now closed the vaccine facility and is now, finally, back to being an economic hub and convention center. This time, last year, they were still a hospital. (That is assuming the virus doesn't take off again.)

* They are still fighting over whether the virus leaked from a Chinese lab or not...in the scientific community. I'm not sure it matters. It came from a bat either outside a lab or in a lab that was studying it. Either way - easy solution, find a way to secure labs better, and put in place better regulations. China has none - by the way. I'm not kidding, they don't have any regulations on Food and Drug, Environment, Intellectual Property, etc. They are a very odd country and culture - think Capitalist/Free Market Dictatorship.

So when anyone sits there and whines about how socialism and communism are the root of all evil, and Capitalism is where it's at - I point to China.
[Note? I do not like ANY of the economic systems currently available to us. Humans are greedy, power-grubbing, selfish nitwits - we need a system that doesn't give into that, and I've yet to find it.]

* Pfizer and Biotech apparently got tired of everyone telling them that their vaccine may or may not be 94% effective against the Delta, so they are now developing one that targets it. Sigh. I foresee more vaccines in my future. Stupid nitwits who refuse to get vaccinated.

Anyhow..that's it. It's past midnight. I'm going to bed.
