I believed the weather-casters this morning, when they said we'd have frequent down-pours this afternoon. So I wore my galoshes from LL Bean. It was supposed to have flash floods and soaking rain from 2pm to 10 am tomorrow morning. Did this happen today? No. Oh, well, at least I was prepared.

The commute to work wasn't that bad, in the 70s with a slight breeze, but humid. The way home - was akin to walking through a steam bath. People only appear to be wearing masks on trains, and sometimes outside and inside. I don't know what to do any longer. It's hot, so I tend to pull it off outside now for the most part - or when I'm not walking past a lot of folks - which well, I live in a city. One gal wasn't wearing a mask on the train - she was busy putting makeup on. But, she was at least more than six feet away from everyone.

Anyhow, at least I was in air conditioning all day long. Chatting with cubicle mate. Who apparently is hunting jobs, and has gone back to school to get an MBA, because he's kind of tired of the job and not getting anywhere. The guy is working long hours, not getting any overtime, and doing school now. Cubical mate told me that he and another co-worker were doing a day-long class on Thursday at headquarters, so wouldn't be in the office - it's Sixth Signma, about workflows and processes, and how to make things more efficient. His description confused me. Also the idea of sitting in a room with people taking a class - of any sort - is not something I could do right now.

I realized that looking for jobs doesn't work for me - because I don't want to do the same job elsewhere for less money. Also, the grass isn't greener somewhere else. Instead, I've been day dreaming about becoming an art restorer or set designer - which mother believes it's bit too late in the game to become. I want to work with my hands right now, not just the brain. Also, I'm tired of computers - although even those fields are computer heavy now.

The staggered schedule or hybrid schedule - return to the office one or two days a week, work remotely the rest - I am enjoying more than I expected. Kind of the best of both worlds. The office is quieter, less people. And the commute isn't quite as crowded. Although I'm seeing more and more travelers coming in and out of the Air Train building with luggage. There was a time in which no one was coming out of it - now, I actually did have to kind of meander around them a bit. Still no where near as crowded as it once was.

Tried to explain Discovery of Witches to mother - who was confused by all the characters in the present time line, and would prefer they just stick with the past. (She's admittedly only watching it for Mathew.)

There's a FB thread on the neighborhood FB page about adopting pets. The poster innocently asked if there was a way to adopt a pet without paying a fee. Apparently this is not a politically correct question to ask? Because of course you should pay a fee for a pet, how dare you suggest otherwise, you fiend.

One woman posted that she had four kittens available and to PM her. Someone chastised the poor woman - about not getting her cat spayed. Seriously? How is this your business? If someone had a cat who had kittens, and is giving the kittens to people - that is their business.

Geeze, People on Social Media are overly judgmental and opinionated about pet ownership. Sometimes you just want to smack them.

Well, Missouri apparently has a major outbreak of the Corona Virus - hardly surprising, Missouri drank the Trump Kool-Aid. They don't believe the virus exists, all evidence to the contrary, they don't believe the vaccine is effective, all evidence to the contrary, and they think they can do whatever they want. Florida and Texas are having similar issues for the same reasons.

And it's time for the bi-weekly Governor's Email:
Governor's Email on COVID )
Good news? We only lost one person today to COVID in NY. That's huge. It's not been that low since well March 2020. One person. I'm waiting for no people. Also we're at 73% on dose, and 66% two doses.

Cubical Mate thinks we'll be fully back in the office by September or October. (So does Breaking Bad, who warned us about all the variants out there and to be careful.)

Ugh, shippers - sometimes I just want to smack them.

The plus side of going into the office today - is I wouldn't have ventured outside and gotten exercise otherwise. The commute gives me exercise and I read on it. I may actually finish reading a book - the first in two years.

More flowers...
