It's been a long week. Lots more in-person people interactions than well I've had for the past year and a half. I'm giving myself a breather this weekend. Although - if a nice day tomorrow - may walk to the Flatbush Food Co-op.

Took another walk - this time around a portion of the cemetery, which was pretty much deserted. Apparently I'm not the only one who eventually got bored of walking around it.

Mother told me today that the hospital in Tampa was overrun with COVID cases this week. So the virus is increasing in the US because of the anti-vaccine nitwits.

She also told me that they were talking on the news about folks who got the Pfizer possibly needing a booster shot, and various break through infections.

Lovely.

Meanwhile, at Crazy Workplace, my project managers are convinced they don't need to put COVID Safety Protocols in their scope of work since the virus will be mitigated by then. (Direct quote.) I think this is wishful thinking on their part. Has no one read their history books? Pandemics don't just go away, they linger, for a very long time. HIV pandemic lasted more than twenty years, the Spanish Flu pandemic lasted almost six years, actually it lingered beyond that. Same with polio, cholera, etc.

Humanity can be really stupid.

I jumped onto Twitter tonight, and found myself delivering snarky one liners after a bit. Twitter tends to bring that out in people. It's designed for the snarky one-liner.

In response to this post about Eliza Stefanik, the dingbat conservative representative from South Brooklyn that tweeted "Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security aren't social programs. And aren't socialism." Dan Rather wondered aloud, who wants to tell her?

Someone responded:

"Stefanik graduated from Harvard with a Bachelor of Arts degree in government. She was elected vice president of the Harvard Institute of Politics. She knows better and knows exactly what she's doing."

Me: Or Harvard is just highly overrated?

Another poster wondered how she got through high school.

Me: Cheated and took a lot of multiple choice tests?

Masq on FB: Good Reads should have podcasts listed in their want to read, to read categories.

ME: Well, it is called "Good Reads" not "Good Listens".

Ugh.

Meanwhile, I'm annoyed with my soap opera. Albeit amused by the fandom.

In other social media related news... former minister of my church, stated in a tweet how he'd suffered from anorexia as a teen and young adult, finally got over it, and due to how he coped during the pandemic, had increased his body weight by 40% and was going on the keto diet to lose it. Of course someone posted in response that he shouldn't do an intentional weight loss plan. It's reassuring in a way to realize that I'm not the only one who gained forty pounds during the pandemic and am now trying to lose it and steadily go back to a more healthy diet. I've made progress, lost about ten pounds according to last weighing. And I've gone off alcohol, the chocolate bars (I still have them, but more sparingly and lower sugar/calorie count). Also off all carbs and grains. Mainly meat/fish/chicken, vegetables, fruit, yogurt, nuts, cheese, eggs, water.

Overall not a bad week. Busy.

And I feel less anxious and depressed than I did at the start of it. Actually I feel rather calm and content at the moment. If I were a pool of spring water - I'd be serene. While on Sunday and Monday - I was rather chaotic, choppy, and leaning towards a whirlpool.

Looking forward to a quiet weekend. I may go and get some caulking for the bathroom on Saturday.
