So, as you may or may not have already heard by now, Andrew Cuomo, the Governor of New York resigned today. It takes effect in 14 days. Mother called to inform me at lunch time. I was back in the office today and listening to the Governor's lawyer defend him against the charges on Facebook - when my mother's call interrupted it. (This was on my iphone.)
Sigh.
Talked to co-workers about it, they had the same reaction I did. Mixed.
Anyhow kudos to the folks who predicted this.
It's so weird. The Governor surprised us all last year with his positive response to the pandemic. He became "America's Governor" and people were asking him to run for President. Now, just a year or so later, he's resigning in disgrace. It's insane. But that's what this roller-coaster ride of a watershed year looks like.
Don't know what if anything it will mean for crazy workplace or going forward.

Commute was long today. On the way home, my train got delayed. By about 20 minutes. This is the commuter train not the subway. There were delays at Atlantic Avenue Terminal - no clue why. I could probably find out if I wanted to - but don't. In the past I'd have known via work, but we have a skeleton crew.
We sat in the tunnel waiting for a track to open up for twenty minutes. Then when I exited to thread my way to the bathrooms - I realized there was a lot of people waiting on trains, more than usual.
Most New Yorkers are wearing masks indoors and outdoors, there are people who aren't of course. More aren't outdoors, most are wearing them indoors.

I spent a lot of time chatting with individual co-workers today. Apparently I'm more social than I thought. ( Read more... )

I need a vacation. ( Read more... )
Mother was cheerier today, and not in tears. I think because she got groceries. Also she didn't talk to father today. They are arranging a time now - for my father to call her, as opposed to the other way around. It's easier to manage.

Meanwhile in other news, my brother sent me a music video created by his two childhood buddies. One did the music, the other did the animation.
Here it is - Great Idea by Bombardier Jones . My brother's friend Doug Hudson, who is the head of animation at KC Art Institute, did the animation for the video.
Bro didn't even know they knew each other. Apparently they were friends long before either met my brother - and both became friends with my brother separately and at different times.
Odd the weird patterns life takes.
Massive thunderstorm has moved in. Word has it we'll get more and more of these in the years ahead.
