This is a break from our previously scheduled programming - ie. I don't feel like talking about current events at the moment.

Mother told me she was binge-watching Friday Night Lights on Netflix - she has six seasons, so lots to binge. She wants to discuss it with me - I had to remind her that I saw it over ten years ago and can't remember most of it. She stated that the problem with doing this - is she escapes her life completely. Kind of like she was doing with romance novels. I told her she was more than entitled to do that at the moment - considering her situation. Sometimes escape is a good thing. I'm escaping at the moment. It's just doing it 24/7 for a lengthy period of time - that it becomes dangerous. I'm lucky - I have crazy work place - it's impossible to escape 24/7.

1. The article kind of states my issues with various fandoms, it's in regard to the General Hospital Twitter Fandom, but it could be reflective of any of them to be honest. It's also reflective of the bad behavior so many folks exhibit on social media, in particular major media platforms like Twitter, one of the reasons why I prefer forums like this one, or a private tightly moderated fanboard.

Soap Opera Twitter About to Explode

It got so nasty, that various actors left twitter. This has been happening a lot on twitter of late. In the comics fandom, various creators left twitter for the same reasons - fans had gotten nasty. How had they gotten nasty? They weren't getting their favorite pairing, or their favorite romantic pairing wasn't getting enough attention. Basically, I think they are all sexually frustrated and upset that the writers/actors aren't providing them with enough masturbation material.

2. Been binge-watching The Morning Show, which is interesting in how it addresses the cut-throat world of the morning news industry. Egos, narcissism, image often put above news. And how people lie to get what they want, and lie about the situation at hand.

It's a lot better than I expected. Also the most intriguing characters are the supporting or side characters, Mia, Claire, Cory, and Chip - who are all behind the scenes. It's a workplace drama, which I happen to adore. I actually prefer serialized workplace dramas to relationship dramas, mainly because they are less likely to fall into melodrama. (Even though I have a weakness for melodrama.)

Next up? Binging Ted Lasso, Mythic Quest, Dickenson, Lisey's Story, Truth Be Told, Mr. Corman....there's quite a few things on this platform worth checking out.

3. I'm waiting for episodes of Marvel's What If to queue up before starting that series. But looking forward to it, because the animation is startling good.

Also in regards to Marvel - it has various things coming up that look intriguing. Movies and television shows. Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange, Wakanda Forever, The Marvels (featuring all the Ms. Marvels), Hawkeye series, and various others.

Disney has two good franchises with well built worlds and lots of interesting subsidiary characters - Star Wars and Marvel under it's umbrella.

That said, I'm also intrigued by DC's upcoming Flash movie, which is featuring three different Batmans - Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck and Robert Pattinson. I don't think they could get Christian Bale, and they'd like to forget Kilmer and Clooney. Also, I think DC is rebooting its movie franchise, to make it lighter and more all inclusive like the television franchise. So, we have a black Superman in the works, the Flash movie, and a Batman flick with Pattinson (who was actually decent in Tenet). Afleck could come back again after redeeming himself in various film roles.

Still need to check out Black Widow, but I'm leery of movie theaters at the moment. So may wait to watch on Disney Plus.

4. The Dune Trailers look interesting, but I'm not as enthralled as expected. Partly it's the casting - it's not grabbing me. Interesting twist that. Dune was a favorite novel when I was in high school or junior high. Now, I'm not sure how I'd feel about it. There's a lot of books I loved in Junior High and High School that do not hold up that well now, and I find myself thinking - WTF was I thinking?

Reminiscence - the latest Hugh Jackman film also looks intriguing. It appears to be about a man who lost a woman he loved, and compulsively relives every memory he had with her through a machine - slowly driving himself crazy as a result.

5. Reading? I'm currently listening to Bruce Campbell's biography - If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor on audio. It's about his life as a B movie actor and is dedicated to his fellow in the trenches B movie and C movie actors, the poor slobs who just do the job. Campbell reads it - and he has a nicely sardonic self-deprecating voice. I like Campbell, he looks like he would be full of himself and is the exact opposite. A breath of fresh air in that toxic industry. Celebrity is not good for the human soul.

Not much else going on. Didn't sleep well last night. Got riled up discussing something dumb on social media. Also stayed up way too late. And didn't drink enough water - so got dehydrated. I swear - I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to my body, sometimes.

The promised thunderstorm never materialized, so as a result, it's still beastly hot outside. Pretty but hot. So alas, haven't left my apartment.

I'm feeling lazy and unmotivated. Maybe its the weather?

Today's random picture is from the Boeing Air & Space Museum in Seattle, Washington.
