Day 210 of Year 2
Oct. 12th, 2021 05:10 pmHee Hee, for the first time, New York State Celebrated October 11 as Indigenous People's Day, as opposed to Columbus Day. We just had to get rid of Andrew Cuomo, who blatantly refused because of his Italian Heritage. Kathy Hochul - doesn't care, and did it without any compunction whatsoever.
I'm highly amused by this turn of events. You have to understand - just a few months ago, sometime around June or July...
Reporters: So when are we changing Columbus Day to Indigenous People's Day like the rest of the country?
Cuomo: Never. Italian's earned that holiday, it's our heritage. And I'm going to be leading that parade this year!
Reporters: So basically over your dead body?
Cuomo: We can set up a separate day for Indigenous People. But this is ours, and we're proud of it!
Four months later, after he "resigned", Kathy Hochul signs into law a proclamation declaring October 11, 2021 - Indigenous People's Day.
Huzzah!
At least something went well this week.
Justice! Yes!
What can I say? I take it where I can get it.

Mother: How are you?
Me: Frustrated. Pretty much the same as I was at noon. About pretty much everything. I want to find something that doesn't frustrate me. (This was before I read about the Indigenous Peoples Day Proclamation.)
Mother: I get it. You are frustrated because things won't go right.
Me: I don't know if that's quite it - it's more that I can't make anything go the way I want it too. And I have this overwhelming desire to punch my fist through a wall - the pain however is preventing me from doing it.
Maybe I should find a boxing class?
Mother is okay. She's traded up to a walker that rolls on four legs as opposed to the two-legged variety. At least she's doing the walker and not the wheel chair, so progress.

What I've never understood about online interactions is the tendency to well...
Poster A: I love Buffy.
Poster B: I hate Buffy.
Okay what exactly is Poster B hoping to accomplish by stating this, besides pissing off Poster A?
And...
Poster A: I hate this storyline, I really hate it.
Poster B: I adore this storyline, and really love it.
Again what does Poster B hope to gain here exactly? At this point Poster A would most likely like to Kick Poster B's behind.
The root of all kerfuffles starts here, folks.

Work
It's frustrating. I was irritable, then I got amused by it.
Accounting: Where's the Notice of Award and Modification for this?
Me: As previously explained, it doesn't have one, it's just a reimbursement.
Accounting: Increase it please by this much...
Me: Sorry, not my contract. You sent it to the wrong person again.
They sent me an invite for a course on Cyber Security - with 16 weeks of training, four weeks training in pre-courses like Linux. And I thought, okay, what are you doing to me crazy workplace? I'm not IT. I don't even know what Linux is. And I certainly don't have these prequisites.
It's all online though - so tempting. But I don't know - I'm operating off of a 13 inch Mac Lap-top.

Ah, I think it may have finally cleared off? No clouds? Yes!
Also, I may be on my way to actually reading in its entirety my first book since well January or February 2020? I lost track some time ago.
I've finished audio books and comic books, but not certain they count?
I'm actually sitting and reading in my spare time, and looking forward to it! So progress?

I suppose I should do some sort of news update?
First..
March 16, 2020
Coworkers and Boss: Oh this is just for two weeks, we'll be back in the office soon.
Me: No, more likely July if that.
Coworkers: Oh, no, we'll be back in June.
Me: Unlikely - I'm thinking September, although it may get pushed back another year.
Coworkers: Really? Nah, we'll be back soon. No problem.
Me: What is it about a pandemic, that you guys don't understand?
I swear I think people thought it was like a hurricane or something, blows in, blows out. Uhm, no. More like an invasion - comes in, and sticks around until you find a way of getting rid of it.
People really need to study something other than World War II, the Civil War, the Elizabethan Period, The Bible, and the Revolutionary War.
* Moderna said the F.D.A. should authorize a half-dose of its vaccine as a booster. [My parents already received a full booster, the FDA is kind of behind...]
*A parliamentary report found that Britain’s stumbling pandemic response cost thousands of lives. [Yeah, well, the US can kind of beat Britain on that score. The US's stumbling pandemic response cost 100,000s of lives.]
*The governor of Texas barred Covid vaccine mandates, setting up a likely court fight. [And actually, the US is still stumbling.]
* The coronavirus was the most common cause of work-related death for American law enforcement officers in 2020 and 2021. More than 460 officers have died from Covid-19 infections tied to their work — more than four times as many as those who died from gunfire during the same period. [That's because they refuse to wear masks and get vaccinated. It's kind of hard to care about them. I stopped about six to seven months ago.]
( why explained by the times below )
See? Hard to care.
Well, I've been notified by my doctor's office that I'm eligible to receive my "booster" vaccine now. So...I guess I should. Lovely. I also need to get the flu shot. I wonder if I can just get the booster from my work place?

It's sunset now. The light is fading. But at least, it's cleared off for a bit. Dark blue sky, trace amounts of clouds.
