Y2/D217 - Got the Booster
Oct. 19th, 2021 06:01 pmI was back in the office today, and while picking up stuff from the printer, talked to one of the managers.
Del: I just got my booster shot.
Me: Really, where?
Del: Up on the 5th Floor.
Me: They're giving them out now?
Del: Yep.
ME: But I didn't get any notification.
Del: I didn't either, Breaking Bad did though and told me about it. We went up together. You should go up - if I'm eligible so are you.
Del is in his late fifties with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, which makes him at "risk" for COVID. I also have type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, and I'm over fifty, so fit under the eligible category per my doctor.
So, I printed off the Doctor's email stating I was eligible, got my vaccination card and went on up. No one was in line. I was the only person asking for a vaccine. They took my information - took them a while to figure out how to do it. Then they sent me to get the shot. I got the Pfizer, same as the original shot. Bit of relief actually, since I'd been worrying over when to get it and if November 24 was too long. Also, I want to get the flu shot in November if at all possible.
It hurt. And I felt it go in this round, when I hadn't the last two rounds.
Afterwards had to sit and wait for fifteen minutes. During which I chatted with one of the nurses from Mobile Health. She was talking about a dog that she "rescued" from her niece (who is about her age). The niece apparently had the poor dog (a Shiatsu) in a cage. Every time she let it - it would run away. At a loss, she asked her Aunt to take it on.

I don't own living things, because I respect and love them, and know myself very well. Also I'd worry about the poor things.
So far the side-effects are exactly the same as the last two shots. Sore arm. Really sore arm. Aches all the way down to the fingers. I took a tynenol when I got home - they advise that if you have any aches or pains. But just tynenol. (Making me wonder if Tynenol is getting free advertising.) The arm was really sore with the second shot as well. Other than that? Tired, but I may have been tired anyhow. Hard to know. Actually I'm more awake today than I was the last three days, plus no brain fog. Had a massive brain fog all last week. Astrologists tell me it's because Mecury is out of retrograde finally, so my brain fog is lifting. But since I reached my fifties, I've developed a healthy skepticism of astrology.
Anyhow. At least I got something done today. Good thing too, since rumor has it - Crazy Workplace plans on sending us back en mass on November 8, instead of next year. Management is apparently fighting over it.

Found out from another co-worker that Squid Game ends on a cliff-hanger and has a second season. So, I'm stopping until the second season comes out. I don't like cliff-hangers. If it doesn't have an ending, I'm not bothering with it until it does. I did the same thing with Lupin - I gave up until it had a clear ending.

Cooler here. Heat is actually kind of whispering on, but nothing major, thankfully. My middle-aged body actually loves this weather.
Commute was for the most part uneventful. Most folks are wearing masks. And trying to social distance. We're almost getting into a routine with each other now - on the subways, and on the sidewalks.
The ice pack I put on my arm, along with the tynenol I took - appears to be working. Arm isn't aching that much. And..mother gave me a spot of good news today. Her PT came by, and reassured her. If she'd injured herself by bending the wrong way or harmed the hip in any way, setting back recovery - she'd have known it immediately, and been calling 9-1-1. Also she was able to walk a ways with her walker outside today, with little pain. The pain threshold was low, and she didn't take much in the way of pain relievers.
So, she's decided she just has to be a little more patient.
