y2/D342 - President's Day
Feb. 21st, 2022 04:59 pmDid very little the last few days. My plans to clean things out never quite came to fruition due feeling a bit spent, and overcome with the need to do as little as possible.
Finished Around the World in 80 Days which reminded me a lot of a Victorian Steam Punk version of Doctor Who, sans Tardis, and sci-fi. Oh, I was wrong about who died, it wasn't the actor who portrayed the villain, it was the director apparently.
I decided to teach myself to knit again. (I had taught myself to do it previously, but alas forgot, so am attempting it a second go around. This time with a scarf. Also there's a big difference between learning how to knit in the late 1990s/early 00s and learning how now - youtube "how to" videos, which did not exist back then. Back then - you had to buy a book or have someone teach you. The youtube videos work better, since I have a tendency to flip what folks are doing in my head and they get frustrated with me. Also the directions in the books never made much sense to me.) So far, I can't figure out if I've completely screwed things up or it is supposed to look like that.
Also watched the Russian Skater's final performance on youtube, which was devastating. I cried. Our society's values are fucked up.
I've stopped reading or watching the news for the most part - because I often feel as if I've fallen into a Philip K. Dick novel, such as The Three Stigmata of Palmer K. Aldritch. I'd rather not know to be honest. I have to get rid of the NY Times subscription soon.
And I took a walk to the Coop - which resulted in waiting in a long line inside the store, due to lack of cashiers. But, hey, scored lunch items - which was the entire point of the exercise, well that and actual exercise.
(I walked a little over a mile or two there and back.)
The whole Covid vs. Cancer comparison that folks do - annoys me to no end.
I have very little tolerance for bad analogies. And this one is ludicrous.
For one thing, Cancer is NOT a contagion. You can't catch it from people. ( Read more... )
Tomorrow back to work. My shoulders are tensing up just thinking about it.
The hallway smelled smokey - like someone burned something in their kitchen - so I opened a window in the hallway.
I got to figure out what to make for dinner. I forgot to buy aluminum foil so not sure I can do steak - unless I use the George Forman Grill - which is a possibility. Lunch is easier - actually.
Here's a picture...
