Got a lot done for a jet-laggy Sunday. And I did feel the jet lag. My body is used to getting up at 5:45 am - 6, and going to bed by 11 or 11:30. Now, I have to train it to go to bed at 10, and get up at 4:45 (which is what DST did - it subtracted an hour from the day.)

The jet lag results in thousands dying annually. Did you know that? They wrote about it in various publications over the the past few years. The deaths are the direct results of motor vehicle fatalities among others. Sleep deprived or jet lagging people get behind the wheel to go to work on Monday, and get in accidents.

One hour of additional daylight = death. Kind of human history summed up in a nutshell. We manipulate nature and it kills us.

On that dour note...I got a lot done. And I'm rather grateful for the laundry room in my basement. It is such a relief to be able to take my laundry down an elevator to a nice, warm and clean basement - with four washers, and three gas dryers - then to lug it outside and several blocks to the laundramat. Particularly on a bitterly cold Sunday. I get it done much faster, and it's not as exhausting. Plus cheaper.

The laundry was serendipitous. I hadn't planned on doing it today. But in the midst of taking boxes downstairs, I discovered the laundry room was vacant - so took advantage of it - and got my linens, towels, socks, and other clothes done. Good thing too - since there's no hot water Monday - Tuesday, and as a result Thursday and Friday will be packed, and it will be difficult to find a time to get it done.

Also put together my new Robot Vacuum, which is currently charging. And disposed of the old one - which lasted five-six years.

And made up the bed up clean, put away the laundry, took a shower, talked to mother, watched church on FB. (It was okay, mainly about Faith and Doubt, but I preferred the previous Minister's sermon on that topic.)

Mother (ever the gossip) felt the need to tell me when niece is arriving home from Inverness, Scotland. Apparently it's today. And according to mother...

Mother: Your niece is arriving home today.
Me: Today? Wait - oh right, you confused me. I thought you meant home - home, not back to England from Scotland. Also, I really don't need to know my niece's whereabouts...that's her personal business.
Mother: And apparently your brother insisted she come home for the full month of April. It wasn't her idea.
Me: Can they do that, though? I mean I didn't think they had that much power or control - I'd think she could fight them on it.
Mother: Apparently she tried to - but they decided they needed to reign her in. She's wandered about enough. They didn't send her over there to tour Europe during a pandemic. So, she's coming home for the full month of April at their direction.
ME: Oh...what are they planning on doing with her while she's home?
Mother: They don't know yet. You're brother said it was white out where he is - yesterday. He watched the snow from his hot tub, the poor baby.
Me: Sigh.
Mother: Exactly.

I'm not really that envious. It sounds great - but I don't like hot tubs. They are hard to get in and out of, and overheat my body. I always feel slightly dizzy afterwards.

Would have liked to see the white-out. Apparently it wasn't that much accumulation. It's kind of snowing now - but not heavily, just flurries, can barely see them. And alas, I'm glad I'm going into the office tomorrow - since I'll have no heat in my apartment all day Monday and well until Tuesday evening.

COVID

Barack Obama announced on Twitter than he'd tested positive with COVID, but only mild symptoms. Michelle tested negative.

And while the US's total number of cases have significantly decreased throwing it towards the end of the list of countries on the dashboard of doom, it still has the highest death rate.

Some dour news...William Hurt died. I was surprised. 71. I'll miss him in movies.

Okay off to make dinner and lunch for tomorrow.
