(no subject)
Jun. 22nd, 2022 10:10 pmI've finished archiving up through 2010, now. For those late to the party? I've been archiving all my reviews (longer than two-three paragraphs), meta (also longer than two-three paragraphs - must be close to a page in length), and fanfic (doesn't matter how long it is). And, oh dear god, I wrote a lot of reviews and meta between 2003 and 2010, particularly in 2008-2010.
On just about everything, and the kitchen sink (although I limited the meta and reviews to actual cultural items, such as theater, movies, books, poems, television, comic books, graphic novels, music and anime.
It's kind of fun. And I'm getting lots of positive responses. At the time, I just got comments. I prefer the likes, the comments often made me edgy.
The archiving involves checking every post in my dw archive, because I suck at tagging and indexing, and don't always put subject headings. See current post for an example of this tendency. Makes archiving a tad more difficult than it needs to be.
Resulting in the realization that there were a lot of commentators/friends on my journal that are either now dead (aptolittlebit, emberslog) or left (aycheb, 2maggie2, moscowwatcher, reginia, stormwreath, shapinglight, shipperx, infinitewhale, norie, and some who I forgot where on it...) or deleted their journals and all their comments (so I have random deletions). It kind of puts things in perspective? I see arguments with folks (in the case of the deletions - one-sided arguments) - that well, the people involved in the argument aren't there any more. And the argument? It seems kind of silly in retrospect. Shows how temporary everything truly is. People come and go from our lives - we don't tend to have much control over it.

Need to go to bed.
Quickly.
Told Chidi about my lid issue - and he wholeheartedly believes I should go to a hardware store and ask them for advice. Some people go to gurus, some priests, some to Rabbis, some to the Dali Lama, Chidi goes to his local hardware store.
Chidi: Is there a good hardware store in your nieghborhood?
Me: Uh..
Chidi: The hardware store will tell you what to do. They are a mecca of problem solving. Whatever issue you have, a NYC hardware store can resolve it.
Me: You have more faith in hardware stores than I do.
Chidi: Trust me - go to the hardware store and they will solve the problem.
Super's wife is however in agreement with me - the boards work fine. And they may save lids from toilet tanks from hereon out - in case this happens again. (It's never happened to them before.) She also said they would fix the handle or flusher - which caused it. I kept taking off the lid to fix the flusher.

Mother has found a group of women to go to dinner with at her clubhouse every Wednesday. This is good - my mother craves socialization - with my father in the nursing home.
