Jul. 28th, 2022 10:36 pmStarted listening to Neil Gaiman's The Sandman Act I on Audible and I' forgotten how dark this story is, and graphically violent. It's a horror/dark fantasy, with explicit and graphic violence for adults.
It's also part of the DC pantheon - in that it references Darkseid, Constantine, Justice League International, Arkham Asylum, among other things.
The problem DC truly has - is it's so dark. By dark, I don't just mean the lighting but also the content.
It is quite good - however. Among the better audio books I've listened to. The group audio books are actually better than the solo narrators, mainly because you can hear different voices, and not spend a lot of time trying to differentiate between whose speaking, because everyone sounds alike. They definitely don't with multiple narrators.
Also listening to it - makes me wonder how they are going to pull a television adaptation. It's bleak in places, and graphically violent bordering on visually grotesque.
I guess, we shall see?
