Nov. 14th, 2023 06:20 pm1. Getting approval for a two to three week vacation in the spring
Me: I am planning a trip to Spain or somewhere in the Spring, and before I do, I wanted to know if I can get approval for up to two and a half weeks off.
BYT: I don't know. I can't give word on anything right now - because I don't know what the work load will be. They announced that they are going to restructure the work again - and there's a major announcement or edict coming soon...so..
Me: I need to do it soon.
BYT: Can't really help you..yet.
Meanwhile people in other departments get to take two week-three week vacations. I have five weeks, I've worked and waited for those five weeks, so I can do this. I'm annoyed.
OTOH, checking out the details of the trips is anxiety inducing. Even traveling in a group can be hard if single. It's ridiculous. I didn't have these stress issues when I was younger. I just went.
2. About seeing Killers of the Flower Moon
Wales: Will you see Killers of the Flower Moon with me?
ME: Eh, I’ve decided to wait until it pops up on streaming for the following reasons: 1) it’s 3 and a half hours. 2) Scorsese focuses on Ernest Burkhart and not the Osage or The FBI agent ( I listened to the unabridged audiobook) . The lead is DiCaprio, who in the book is just a weak flunky.
Wales:Yeah, I agree with all. I finished reading the review and that about sums it up.
Chidi at work, also asked this..
Chidi: Are you going to see the latest Scorsese - Killer's of the Flower Moon.
Me: No, I'm waiting for it to pop up on streaming. I listened to the audiobook - and know that Scorsese focused on the wrong things, also it's three and half hours. I recommend just reading the book.
Chidi: Oh, I read it too. It's good but long. Why do they have to make movies that long? I'm tired of these long movies.
Me: completely agree.
Chidi: Did love The Irishman though - his last one.
Me: I haven't seen that one yet.
According to Mother it is popping up on Disney +.
I can't remember my conversation with mother. Oh well. Which is odd considering I just had it.
