1. Finally stopped raging at my workplace. I figured out why I was angry - I do not like feeling used, or abused, or treated as less than or undervalued - like a slave. Like my time wasn't worth anything. I did however manage to get this across to my management. That the staff, including myself, felt undervalued. And they seemed to acknowledge it and made amends. Meditation helped pull me out of the loop - I woke up angry.

So that's something?

I'm tired of advocating for myself and others constantly.

Going to have to do it with medical issues next year. Not going to get very far next week. So best not to think too much about it.

Anyone have a body pillow? Suggestions? Recs? Thinking of getting one to help with positioning, and snoring.

2. Positive thing that happened at work yesterday? The holiday breakfast went well. We played games. And I talked to folks. Also, got a few items, including a chocolate drink bomb, ear plugs, eye mask, and nice mug. More importantly - the two gifts I brought were a hit. And immediately snatched by the people who fell in love with them. The guy who loves tools - went first and made a bee line for my mutli-tool priars and flashlight, and the gal who loves cushy socks, made a bee line for my fox cushy socks. I felt good. I like giving things to others. It warms my heart. I actually like it more than getting things?

3. I've become addicted with the Jeopardy game on my phone. Useless trivial knowledge apparently resides in my brain and this gives it something to do.
Plus it's free, and I play against folks, but have no clue who they are.

Hmm...I think the sun is coming back? It's overcast and gloomy today, but sunset seems to be later than it was yesterday.

4. Finished Lessons in Chemistry on Apple TV - and wondering if Bre Larson might be Autistic? She has an odd acting style - that is kind of expressionless dead-pan, and its in all her films. It works very well in this and The Room, but I'm wondering if folks gave her acting kudos for well her personality?

The series in of itself is good, if uneven. I got a little bored in the middle, but liked the end, which circles back to Calvin, Elizabeth Zott's love.

Wales apparently started watching Beef on Netflix, so I may try that next, not certain. Our tastes are rarely in sync. She's fighting with her siblings again. She has three of them, and is always on the outs with at least two. Which is fine? I just wish she didn't feel the need to tell me about it. I'm guessing this is a lesson? I should stop venting myself?

5. A lot of people on Xitter don't like Christmas music. I don't know why.

6. I got my flu shot finally. The arm hurt for about thirty minutes, and that was it. No other side effects. Just the left arm hurting for thirty minutes.

7. Barbara Striesand Memoir - she's talking about A Star is Born now, and apparently her lover at the time, the hair-dresser/make up artist - Jon Peter, wanted to direct and star in it. Read more... )

Interesting tidbits on Streisand:

* She doesn't sing in the shower, car, kitchen or anywhere except on stage, in the studio, or for work. In short - she can't sing on demand. (I can't write creatively on demand, so I get it.)

* She doesn't like to listen to music for pleasure, since she does it for work and see it as work.

*Fans have come up and interrupted her while eating, requesting autogaphs or a song - as if they own her. And if she refuses they get nasty. They also have taken photos - while she's eating. She said they have no sense of personal boundaries.

1. Sigh, struggling with nasal sinus congestion, and scratchy throat - although comes and goes, so not sick. The doctor tells me I'm not allergic - because the blood just showed mugwort pollen - but that's BS, since I've been allergic to mold and dust forever.

I need to see the allergist. Probably in March. No one is available prior to that.

2. Listening to the Paley Fest Buffy Reunion from 2008 - and I don't remember bits from this at all...such as:

* Christopher Beck won an Emmy from the show for the music. And the mournful piece for Passion? Anthony Stewart Head actually did the vocalization for it.

Found it! Remembering Jenny, by Christopher Beck and vocalizations by Anthony Stewart Head.

* There's a few really insane remarks in there...that get across the awkwardness of the gathering.

3. Variety's List of The Greatest Television Shows of All Time is basically just US television shows. Granted up to a certain point, the US really was the only one exporting or doing all that much with television, but after that point everyone else was too - and that point was about the 1960s/1970s. The UK produced a lot of cool television series in the 1960s.
I know, I watched them. Just because we didn't get the shows over in the US, didn't mean they weren't great.

So, read that list - with the following two things in mind: 1) it's subjective, and 2) it's by US television show critics who clearly haven't watched anything outside of the US.

ME: General Hospital is 88 on the Variety's List of the 100 Greatest Television Shows.
Mother: What? Why? Are they nuts?
Me: They were happy about it on Xitter and Facebook.
Mother: I don't get it.
Me: Television critics.

Buffy made #40.

Both are higher up the list than...Community, Abbot Elementary, the Cosby Show, St. Elsewhere, Hannibal, Homeland,The Good Fight, Top Chef (which is a reality series that I've never watched),Black Mirror, I May Destroy You, Will and Grace, Daria, and Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.

I don't know. I'd have put St. Elsewhere above General Hospital, but that's just me.

Sigh, Girls is on the list. But so is Happy Days, just below General Hospital.

Hee, Buffy beat out the Americans, Six Feet Under, Grey's Anatomy, Star Trek the Next Generation,The Dick Van Dyke Show...

Whomever wrote this list has an odd love of I Love Lucy and Mad Men. Seriously? I would not have listed them as 1 and 2. Maybe 60 and 70 or far lower. And yes, I've watched all of the episodes and seen them. And just no.

See? This is why it is hard to take television critics seriously.
