Thanks for the responses to the last post. (I know people are reading, but at times, I guess, I want the interaction? I'll go back and respond later.
Been in a mood all day - yet another run-in with the CPAP. It's aggravated me to no end. So much so, I vented to various co-workers about it.)

Me vs. the CPAP Machine Round 3?

Well, I was informed today by the people who supply the CPAP machine that if I don't start using the device - my insurance will stop paying for it.
Also, the mystery of why distilled water is required was solved - apparently its to ensure the safeguarding of the machine. Non-distilled water will harm the machine - kind of like with humidifiers. The amount of plastic used in medical devices is alarming by the way - most of this machine is made of plastic. The mask is plastic. The distilled water is plastic.

I was called during my lunch break by the CPAP machine guy, Edwin. Who kept telling me that he wasn't with Adapt Health which supplies the machine, but by the maker of the Machine.

Crazy Workplace

The other people on the floor (who are not currently reporting to BYT) are now worried that BYT is applying for and interviewing for BOSS's job. BOSS is retiring in April.

Books

Finished two today. Go me. Considering I've not finished a book in two months, this is an accomplishment.

* My Name is Barbra by Barbra Striesand - this was a seemingly endless audio book. It was 48 hours long. It took me two months to get through it. And 20 hours of it is basically name-dropping, reading reviews, and praising her accomplishments - it's like listening to someone promote their own resume. (I kept wanting to tell her - Barbra - you don't need to sell yourself to me, I'd not have picked up the audio book if I wasn't interested.) The rest is a mixed bag. Snippets of musical numbers (which are worth while - if you like Streisand's brand of music and I do, and others such as Marvin Hamlish, Kris Kristofferson, and someone else.). A lot of setting the record straight so to speak - she tackles every gossip column and falsehood out there.

There's a long chapter on her dog's death and how she saw the dog represented in the clouds afterwards.
posting of dog in clouds )

And she explains she cloned her dog for cancer research on dogs. And ended up with more dogs than she'd intended. Somehow they had enough cells to clone two dogs. And states, while you can clone the dog's body, you can't clone the dog's personality.

I'm not really a dog person? So this is all lost on me? I'm a cat person. Read recently that the difference between dog people and cat people, is dog people want their dogs to be more like people, and cat people want to be more like cats.

She does finish it on a high note (well, when she's not ranting about the Doofus and who can blame her really), about how not giving up on her goals and staying persistent aided her. Also, ironically - she set out to be a stage actress, but does not want to be on stage ever again, singing in a concert - sure, stage no. She loves the theater, just doesn't want to be the one on stage. And is grateful for the gift of her singing voice - which she knows landed her - her career. She believes success just makes people more of who they already are. And fame is an empty trophy.

The book is repetitive. It required an editor. She rambles, and repeats herself. If you think my posts are long...

* Wedding before Dawn by Alaine....? (I forgot her last name)

It's okay. Same issues as all the rest, starts out fun, gets bogged down in the middle with endless yearning and inability to communicate.

I wanted more time with his siblings, and felt there was a great subplot in there about how the hero was the by-product of his mother's affair with a traveling and promiscuous French priest. But no, instead we waste a lot of time bemoaning whether or not so and so loves so and so. Another great subplot about the heroine's inability to read, and her father's abuse. Plus one about her friend, Millie, who wants to become a surgeon.

I think the author didn't know what to do with any of them and we got the, does he want me? Does she love me or hate me? Nonsense instead. In a better writer's hands this could have been a great story. I may need to read Courtney Milan again, or Meredith Duran.

Makes me aware of how many poorly written books are published.

Next up?

The Bride a snarky romance novel about a Vampire heiress marrying a Werewolf Lord to bring peace to their tribes. The heroine apparently has a snarky sense of humor.

And on Audible?

Tina Brown's Vanity Fair Dairies... - unless of course I get bored and listen to Piransi or Babel instead.
