Apr. 28th, 2024 09:11 pmMigraine headache from hell has basically taken over my weekend. It's breaking up finally - now that it is raining. Making me think that it was a barometric pressure headache? It's hard to think, concentrate,
Has anything profound happened in my life? I've honestly no idea. I'm only 57, so it may still happen. I guess it depends on how we define it? I think people like to judge others, as opposed to being curious about them? Is that profound?
I guess just being born is profound? Or watching someone smile? Or birds dancing across the sky? Or the dance of fireflies in the backyard as we race to catch them? Starring at an eclipse of the moon? Starring out at the expanse of the grand canyon or a field of flowers. Knowing we're not as important as we all think we are? Nor as insignificant?
I don't know. It was a random post on Twitter that I glanced at before another bout of the headache from hell over took me this afternoon.
It's dissipated now, obviously. Or I'd not be writing this post. I listened to an audiobook dramatization most of the day, and the church service on FB (about multi-tudes of choices and being open to people and things, I think? I liked the music, but can't remember most of it - I dosed off during it, partly due to the headache). It's made me a little irritable and depressed, although at the moment, I'm mostly relieved that it appears to be dissipating. The headache felt interminable.
Television watching? I'm still in a bit of a slump, nothing is really grabbing me (well outside of the soap I watch with my mother via the phone, which is more routine, kind of like watching the news or sports or Jeopardy?).
* Baby Reindeer is getting the reviews - but Netflix kicked me out when I tried it. ( Read more... )
* Hack Your Health - a look inside the Gut - documentary on Netflix. I loved this - it was fascinating. They actually got some interesting experts, and it's a documentary based on the non-fiction book written by a leading gastrointestinologist in Germany. I found it comforting. They take four different people and examine their gut health, all the while providing information and practical advice on how to heal the gut, and why it works the way it does. Heavy emphasis on eating plenty of vegetables and fruits all week long.
* Dead Boys Detectives - it's okay. I liked Lockwood & Company better, this felt a bit stilted and awkward in places. ( Read more... )
* Fallout - I went back to it, after someone raved about it on Twitter. It gets better as it goes. The third episode was better than the first two, and the pacing picks up. Also it doesn't quite go the way I expected. The lead female protagonist starts out as...kind of dumb? But by the end of the third episode she seems to figure some things out. It is ironically funny in places - but gross sight gags don't really work for me? ( Read more... )
* Vampire Diaries - decided to try a re-watch. And had forgotten how bad the pilot episode truly is - or cheesy. We have mist. A crow. And a shadowy figure. ( Read more... )
* Bodies - I need to try this when I'm not suffering from a migraine headache. I was having troubles following or caring, it was interesting, but just Sahara in the 21st Century's story intrigued me.
* Infinity Crisis - Across Multiple Worlds - DC animated series Part I (MAX) - I wanted to see this for a while now, but I do not like the animated style. (It's very similar to Invinceable and Archer - and doesn't quite work for me. I'm picky, probably too picky. But there it is.)
Books?
* I know I should give up on "YellowFace" but I can't for some reason or other. It's a horror story/satire about the publishing industry. But as is often true with satire, I can't always tell where the satire ends and the truth begins? ( Read more... )
* I'm really enjoying the audio dramatizations of the Kate Daniels books.
