Irritable. Most likely due to digestive issues and struggles with sleep, also associated with digestive issues. If you don't have them? Consider yourselves blessed and among the few, the blessed few (if commercial television is any indication - there's a lot of ads on IBS-C).

Me: I hate conflict, but I'm confrontational.
Mother: You do realize that's kind of the same thing. They are kind of equated.
Me: Yeah, I know I'm contradictory - that confrontation leads to conflict. But I just can't help myself.
Mother: You don't like it when people misconstrue, state something that isn't clear, wrong, or spread disinformation? Or that doesn't make any sense?
Me: Well yeah, and it gets me into trouble all the time.

(Most people don't like to be told that what they are suggesting makes no logical sense or is flat-out wrong. They kind of take exception to that. Can't think why.)

Fandom is irritating me again. Doesn't matter which one I lurk in or join, sooner or later some nitwit whines about a favorite character of mine being front and center (the character isn't actually front and center, and not on that much - they are exaggerating). And they hate it. (Because they wish it was theirs on instead, who I'm not a huge fan of and have tolerated and managed to find things to like about. If I can do it - they can. This has happened in every fandom I've been in.) I've restrained myself from attacking their logic this go around. (Sometimes you just have to let them whine into the void.) Although did not restrain myself from explaining to another fan how there was no consensus in the fandom, and it made no sense for the writers to pay attention to the fans - because seriously which ones would they bother paying attention to? They can't please everyone? And we can't even agree on whether there is a consensus let alone which show to watch or platform to discuss it on or which characters to love.

Online there's a thread about how "kick-ass" women fighters are unrealistically portrayed in film and books - and there is no such thing (basically they'd hate Buffy, Aeryn Sun, and Starbuck). Some guy expostulates on how his six foot tall dairy farming Aunt who was a prison guard in a male prison (highly unlikely - they don't tend to do that), struggled and had to get help. And this is proof that women just can't and men are physically stronger.

I think this is a gross generalization (assuming any of it is true - it's twitter - excuse me, X). I've met women who could probably kill my six foot five brother with barely much effort. If you are trained on how to fight, and your opponent isn't, they are dead. Also, seriously, guys? Your gent-ilia is hanging on the outside and is an easy target. Take that out, than wham, bam. Done. It's just a matter of getting to it first. Now, if it is protected? That's another story.

I once had a debate with a female fan over whether women could be firefighters (they can, I've seen them and we currently have a female fire chief). She lost. But we did kind of gang up on her - there were two lawyers involved, enough said. See? I'm confrontational. I can't deal with seeing something that is just...wrong, without speaking up about it and voicing my opinion. It gets me into trouble all the time. I'm well known for "yes, but...that makes no sense, what about..." I'm restraining myself from getting into this argument amongst a bunch of idiotic book editors and novelists, who I am never going to read in my life time. They lost me completely. I so desperately want to tell them they are wrong, and point out in excruciatingly detail all of the flaws in their logic. "Yes, but, did your Aunt take up martial arts, and did she win matches against everyone, and how do you know...she's just one person? And did she ever kick these guys in the nuts? Or groin? And..."

I remember James Marsters won me over once when he told a story at a Q&A about how he'd informed one of the "leads" of Star Wars that a woman could take them both out.

Star Wars Lead who shall remain nameless (I bet it is Hamill): You were on Buffy? Yeah, I couldn't watch that show. I didn't buy the premise. There's no way a woman that size could take out a guy.
Marsters: I don't know about that man. I did fight scenes on that show with the stunt women playing Buffy - and they could take out both of us, with little work. They are tough and great fighters. And I'm a black belt.

Buffy: 1, Star Wars: 0
