Sep. 24th, 2024 08:59 pm1. My subconscious has a wicked sense of humor - it plagued me with a frightening nightmare of a woman that I was staying with in some cabin near a canyon, giving birth to a monstrous creature - who was part...ginger cat and part spider. Basically the head and shoulders of the ginger cat, and the legs of a spider and the size of the ginger cat. It kept chasing everyone.
And towards the end of the nightmare, I thought it was crawling over me in bed, I could feel its weight. And jerked awake relieved it wasn't there. Although I did check.
I have no idea how my subconscious came up with this atrocity. Bad subconscious.
The stupid image still haunts me. I have a stuffed ginger cat that I'm giving the side-eye at the moment. Although it doesn't resemble the one in the dream at all.
See? This is why I avoid a lot of horror movies.
2. Television and Film Scores...
I was thinking about this in regards to another post on DW, which was asking about television scores. It asked about ones that are embedded in the show and affect or work in tandem with the writing of the show to further theme, character or story.
I think metaphorically - so from my perspective, most do.
My favs, or the scoring composers that I remember are:

Television score themes that I loved:

I honestly think music makes the show work better. When it's missing and it is in some cases - I feel its absence.

3. In London the Nottinghill Carnival takes place today and tomorrow. Have you ever been to a street Carnival?
Yes, they kind of have them constantly in NYC? They are impossible to avoid.
4. Today is the International Day of the Dog to promote the homing of rescue dogs. What’s your favourite breed of dog (and have you ever owned one)?
Collie, and no. I know I am ill-equipped to take care of a dog, so I wisely have never tried to adopt one.
Also, as an aside? Heard that a lot of the folks who decided to "adopt" pets during the pandemic to be less lonely, and comforted - have now abandoned them. As a result the shelters are packed to capacity, and there's a lot of feral cats and dogs out there - that are still reproducing.
