I'm Back...
Oct. 19th, 2024 06:45 pmWell, I'm back like a bad penny...(I don't know where I got that saying from? Most likely my grandmother. But it could be anywhere.) Miss me?
(Probably not. There's so much content on the internet, it's hard to know whether someone is there or not sometimes? People can get lost in the shuffle.)
Here's a picture of where I was... well at least on Thursday and Friday, albeit for about an hour or so. (Mother can only handle walking or sitting near the beach for so long. I was technically visiting my mother not the beach - I can see the beach here. Not that I ever do, but I can.)

Lovely weather all week long. It basically looked like that picture - clear blue skies. Temperatures ranging between 83 and 64 degrees. It was windy cool on Thursday, but beautiful on Friday and Wednesday.
I'm exhausted today - little to no sleep, and travel no matter where I go is exhausting, made more so by needless construction and traffic. Lots of people traveling this year - the flight down and back was full. So full on the way back, that I volunteered to check my carry-on. Partly because it was stuffed, and I wasn't certain it would fit in the plane's cramped overhead compartments. It barely fit on the way down. Also it made space for other's bags. Did mean waiting twenty-thirty minutes for the bag to show up at the luggage carousel, which was at the far end of the baggage claim, while the escalators to the taxis were at the opposite end. This meant to get to the taxis - after claiming by bag, required walking across the equivalent of two football fields, up an elevator (I chose it over the escalators - next time I'll pick the escalators, I got confused when it stopped at the third floor and there only appeared to be three floors, but it clearly wasn't the skywalk floor. Then down the skywalk, then across to another bank of elevators, because the taxis had moved from their previous location due to the construction. And finally the taxi (who'd been waiting four hours and barely spoke English, also kept relying on an inaccurate navigational system that I kept correcting).
I got in at 11:24 am, and home by 1:45 pm, so not too bad. Taxi cost $85 to get home.
Another picture from yesterday...
