I've been trying not to worry too much about the future.

1. Apparently Elon Musk via X is trying to challenge The Onion's purchase with of Alex Jones Info Wars in the bankruptcy auction.

Sigh. This is why I no longer bother reading or watching satire - I can just turn on the news or read it in a news article.

2. In other "Onion" news...because it's nice to stick with a general theme? I got curious and looked up information on an allegedly scary enclave in upstate New York - called Onion Town. Where a bunch of upper middle class teens kept going to scare themselves - they basically would joy-ride through the community and mock the residents, until the residents drove them off by throwing bricks at their cars, and shooting at them.

The town is one road, populated by trailers, and mainly mixed race or inter-racial families. They are unfriendly to outsiders, because outsiders have not been friendly to them. They have a reputation for being inbred, crazy and violent. But it's not necessarily true.

This article from Vice - entitled Peeling Onion Town says it all.

From Reddit: "It is a short (as in a couple hundred yards long) dead end road paralleling Rt. 22 with some poor people living on it. Somehow this particular one became an urban legend among teenagers. There is literally nothing unique or scary about it. Just a small cluster of poor people's houses like thousands of others you can find anywhere. "

I seriously doubt the people of Onion Town voted. Or are even registered to vote in the US. 3/4ths of the US voted.

3. In better news, well depending on one's point of view - it always does, doesn't it? The Governor of NY lifted the Pause on Congestion Pricing in NYC. The plan is for it to be enacted on January 5. (January 6 is the inaugration. This amuses me to no end.)

The Congestion Pricing - Pricing Plan.

What is Congestion Pricing?

MTA votes to approve Congestion Pricing.

I'm happy about it. It helps Crazy Org, it hurts car owners who insist on driving into NYC for no other reason than their own convenience, helps the environment, and helps professional drivers such as taxis, buses, ambulances, emergency vehicles, and deliveries.

Plus? It prevents this from happening: Delhi Air Pollution Reaches New Highs. There's a price for everything we do.
