More February Memage
Feb. 15th, 2025 01:00 pm[It's amazing what an additional hour or two of sleep can do. Feel much better and happier. That is - as long as I stay away from the National News - which is akin to watching a nightmarish political satire via Saturday Night Live by way of Monty Python starring the cast of the Apprentice. I wish it was a satire - and I could just switch it off and it would go away. But alas, no. So right now, I'm doing the best I can to stay healthy and sane, and that's by switching it off and ignoring it. I get drips of it of course - in this information soaked society - it's impossible to switch it off completely, and when I do - I find myself erupting with rage which doesn't help anyone including me.
I told some of this to Breaking Bad (manager), who stated that Saturday Night Live couldn't touch this satire - it's beyond even them.
An example?
In a skit during the fall, Saturday Night Live was worried about getting audited if the idiot won. Apparently it didn't occur to the writers of Saturday Night Live that the idiot would fire all the tax auditors and agents. I mean why would it? That's kind of how the Federal Government gets its money and how we pay for the military, the secret service, and well all the elected officials.]
February Memage
10. It’s World Pulses Day – do you have a favourite way to eat pulses such as beans, peas, lentils etc?
They wreck havoc on my digestive system. But I keep trying. Salads and soups seem to work best? But again, my digestive system hates them.
11. What was your very first job (perhaps when you were still in school?).
Paying job? It was a mall deli - where I made sandwiches and cut meat, and I got fired by the new manager who felt I didn't make the sandwiches and take the pay fast enough. I was sixteen, she was twenty-five. One of the older workers told me to count myself lucky - since there is no future in food service. Prior to that I worked in my Dad's office - clipping newspaper articles that were relevant to his business and filing.
12. Have you ever crossed the equator?
Kind of? I wasn't aware of it - I was in a plane flying to Australia at the time.
13. Do you remember The Monkees TV show?
Vividly. It was my first fandom. Also my first television character/actor crush. I was in love with Davy Jones (as many people my age were at the time - it was the early 70s, all of us watched it in reruns on Saturdays and in the afternoons.) I watched every episode about fifteen times. And made up stories about it - or wrote fanfic in my head.
14. It’s Saint Valentine’s Day – when did you last drink champagne?
Several years ago. I'm not a fan of it. And I don't drink alcohol any longer for health reasons.
15. Do you like to watch reality TV shows?
Depends on the reality show? I like art shows like Great Pottery Throw Down, Great British Bake Off (or Great British Baking Show), Next in Fashion, Glass Blow Out, Great American BBQ Showdown, and Project Runway.
I don't like shows with a lot of interviews or unscripted but manipulated drama. (Did you know they have acting classes for reality show stars now? How to act in a reality show? These things are so fake.)
I liked the more how to do it on the fly type shows - such as Trading Spaces. Or House Makeovers.
Not a fan of the talent show ones - such as American Idol (too many interviews). But I do like Dancing with the Stars (if I can see it without the commercials and without the interviews).
