Feb. 19th, 2025 12:23 pmCaught up on sleep (about 8 hours) and had breakfast around 8:30-9:30 am, now fasting until doctor's appointment at 3 pm (so fasting from 9:45am to 4:00pm (possibly longer). Took the day off, because I didn't want to deal with trying to schedule two hours for a Doctor's appointment, and fast from 7 - 4pm while I was at it.
[ETA: Apparently the nurse lied to me, and the Doctor didn't need to do bloodwork - yesterday they did a full panel. So she just used that instead. In short? I fasted for no reason. On the bright side? My blood sugar was down to 102 because of it. Also I was starving when I got home. And I've nibbled on a lot of things as a result of being starving. Ugh. Doctor also told me to take antacid med at least an hour prior to having the other meds, and before I eat, since otherwise they'll interact and not work according to plan. I honestly think half of our medical problems are due to drug interactions. Say what you will about my doctor, at least she understands drug interactions. She also told me to steer clear of Niacin, it makes people hyperactive and drives them insane with moodiness. It also interacts with everything. It's why I stopped taking Stress B-Complex, which she said was okay, my B-12 was fine.]
Watched the second episode of Poker Face - I am actually rooting for the criminals to get it, I mention this because people online said they felt the show was pushing us to sympathize with the criminals??? I am however wondering about the writers - the second episode has a character named Judd who looks like he stepped out of the musical Oklahoma, complete with costume, he even has the same name. The characters are kind of quirky but realistic. But I am admittedly annoyed at how stupid everyone is, although people tend be incredibly dumb, so maybe going for realism? I think they are going for realistic satire. This feels like a satire of the Murder She Wrote trope? Where the detective travels about helping people along the way, and people are nice and kind to the detective? No, they really aren't. They can't be bothered for the most part and have to be prodded, in some cases multiple times to help the detective. It's closer to Columbo than Murder She Wrote - in that it goes for the realism, over the fantasy, and the Detective pretends to be an idiot.
Northern Exposure - doesn't date well, and it wouldn't work now, mainly because we have cell phones and half the jokes are dependent on not having phones, much in the way of television or anything outside of a local radio station. That said? Janine Turner's Maggie O'Connell is in reality the core of the show and the most likable of the characters. I was trying to place her first boyfriend, Rick, and discovered the actor was on Eight is Enough, and for a time on various soap operas.
