Wales opted out of tonight's Anti-Fascism Cabaret, due to a wicked cough. (She was out protesting in the cold and the rain in NYC last weekend along with 200,000+ other people. Not surprised she got sick - that was among the the reasons I chose not to do it. ) We're both disappointed. Although, I'm kind of relieved, to be honest, it is cold and rainy tonight, and I ache. Also I'm tired, and just want to veg and hopefully paint tonight. Maybe take my compost down to the basement.
Watercolor is problematic. It likes to do it's own thing. Unlike oil or acrylic or pencil, it's hard to control watercolor. At any rate - I was trying to do white male ICE agent arresting a POC girl, and ended up with a Black Woman ICE agent doing it. I don't know what to do. It wasn't planned, it just happened. Smacks artistic muse upside the head.
Everything else is working splendidly, it's just that - which didn't.
Oh well, the Native Americans, specifically the Hopi and Navajo, that if you don't have a flaw in your art, the evil spirits will get into it. The reason is you are contesting nature - nature has flaws, so shall we.
My Granny was close friends with a lot of Native Americans out west.
I was worrying about my watercolor off and on today, along with other things, some work related, some not. Work is frustrating me at the moment, I can't figure out what they want. Oh, well, at least Breaking Bad and I are on the same page. And, like all things on earth and in the heavens above? It's temporary. This too shall pass.
Favorite song from Avenue Que comes to mind. For Now.

7. When is your next family birthday?
Niece's and on April 16. Reminds me, I need to write and send the birthday card that I bought her.
8. In 1893, Tina Broadwick was born – a pioneering parachutist, she invented the rip-cord and was the first person to jump ‘free fall’. Have you ever done (or would you consider doing) a parachute jump?
No. ( Read more... )
9. Do you set an alarm on an alarm clock or a phone to get up in the morning?
Yes. ( Read more... )
10. Are you a minimalist or a maximalist regarding home décor?
Minimalist. And prone to clutter, unfortunately. I swear everyone feels the need to send me lots of useless paper that I can't figure out how to get rid of. Stop. ( Read more... )
Off to come up with something for dinner. Currently reading the Parable of the Sower in paperback on the train, but I'm thinking I may need reading glasses since I can barely make out the words. With the Kindle, I don't.
Drawback of reading actual books - I require reading glasses.
