Taking tomorrow off as a Vacation Day and providing myself with a 4 day weekend. Back has been bothering me. Took a hot shower to relax the muscles in the back and neck, and took two tynenol. Feel slightly better and less like I want to be put on a medieval torture devices and stretched.

Mother last night informed me that several people had been shot during the Kansas City Cheif's Superbowl Celebratory Parade in Downtown, Kansas City. And at work today, I was told a co-worker had gone to Kansas City this week, and was at the Parade, however thankfully - not shot. She was at a different location of the parade. On the news this morning - they said it was appeared to be a dispute between several people?

The mass shooting that unfolded amid throngs of people at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebration, killing one person and wounding almost two dozen others, appeared to stem from a dispute between several people, authorities said Thursday.

Police Chief Stacey Graves said the 22 people injured Wednesday ranged between 8 and 47 years old, with half under 16. A mother of two was killed.

Police said they detained three juveniles but released one who they determined wasn’t involved in the shooting, leaving two in custody. No charges have been filed. Police are looking for others who may have been involved and are calling for witnesses, victims and people with cellphone video of the violence to call a dedicated hotline.

“We are working to determine the involvement of others. And it should be noted we have recovered several firearms. This incident is still a very active investigation,” Graves said at a news conference.

When mother told me last night - my immediate response was..."at a Football Parade? Why? I thought the crazy conservatives liked Football? That's just.. in Kansas City of all places? And they say New York City is dangerous? We don't have shootings during our ticker tape parades."

It wasn't about Taylor Swift - she's on her Australian Tour. Oh, according to Mother and the News, more people watched the Superbowl last weekend than ever before in the history of Super Bowls, it broke records. And more people were in attendance at games.

I'm trying to figure out how to draw a comic strip about a little Irish girl in an orphanage who wants to become a nun during the 1900s. I have it in my head, just not sure yet how to work it on paper.

Also trying to figure out how to draw one about my insane work place utilizing zoo animals. I need to find a picture of a weasel.

Given how badly kids were treated in Irish (and other) orphanages, often by nuns, I don't think many would want to stay there, though they probably were not given the chance to leave.

This has happened before. I can't tell you what the sporting event celebration was, it was a few years ago, maybe winning the baseball World Series. Two rival gangs show up, find each other and start arguing over whatever. Somebody pulls out a gun, someone on the other side pulls one out and mostly innocent people get hurt. It doesn't happen *at* the 'big' game because security is tight. But the police can't control things at these parades with maybe hundreds of thousands of people showing up.

I must have missed that. Well, go for it! She must have been one of very few. (I actually met someone the other day who had only just got free of a nunnery/school, where her parents had had her confined for many years. So weird that people with money as a motivation still get away with this kind of thing.)
