1. Apparently there are jumping spiders that people keep as pets, and have little pet jumping cat scale trees for them to explore? Why? Just why? Probably in Australia. The freakish spiders are all in Australia apparently, even though when I visited Australia, I didn't see any. And my folks lived there for 18 months and didn't either. We admittedly didn't have wild-fires either - it was in 1990-91.

Anyhow, I'd have been happy not knowing this. I was happy no knowing this. The internet is just evil. I pay for my internet fetish daily.

2. I feel betwixt and between. And trying to figure out what to do next. Work's slow - so it's lovely I'm taking Thursday and Friday off, already have Wed off (Juneteenth). Juneteenth for those not in the know? Is the anniversary of the last slaves in the US being freed and the implementation of the emancipation proclamation in Galvaston, Texas - which at that time, was a bustling port and the biggest city in the State of Texas.

Have the worst writing block - and art block. I just feel blocked. Not sure why? I think the internet and the culture around me has made me self-conscious?

3. In a reading slump. May switch from e-reader to an actual book soon.
Does anyone have an Ipad, with pencil and ability to draw and write on it?
If so please advise which would be the best one to buy? I'm looking for one, but it should probably be Apple, since everything else is.

4. Trying to figure out what to watch next - I feel inundated with television shows again.

* 3 Body Problem
* Doctor Who final episode
* Renegade Nell
* The Acolyte
* House of Dragon
* Dead Boys Club (half way through)
* Welcome to Wrexham (finish S1)
* Finish Ted Lasso
* The Hit Man (movie)
*. The Dark
* Dark Matter
* Finish watching 911
* Finish watching the Resident

Also what do people rec in Anime - anything?

I found a tarantula, between two dorms at the U of Missouri when I was a student. Someone who lived higher up in the building than me called out a window asking what I was hunched over looking at. When I told them, they came quickly down to look themselves. I went on to class, but the guy and his roommate picked it up and made it a pet. They had it in a little terrarium, and it lived at least till the end of school that year. It was pretty docile, didn't jump, didn't bite anybody as far as I know. Not my idea of a pet, but it wasn't at all as scary as you might think a great big spider would be.

And that reminds of the time my mother, her two sisters and most of their kids were all together. Some of us kids were given the task of scaling and cleaning some freshly caught fish for dinner. My cousin Bruce who is three years younger than me realized our mutual cousin Suzie (less than a year younger than me) was doing her share but was a little squeamish about the dead fish. He picked one up and started teasing and chasing her with it. I knew he wasn't a lot braver than Suzie, so I picked up another fish and chased him till he put his down!

We have got jumping spiders here too though probably less dangerous than Australian ones. My husband thinks they are cute but then he loves insects.

I apologize for letting you know about the jumping spiders.

If it helps, they are quite small, harmless to humans, and not particularly Australian.

I hate spiders, so not commenting on that topic!

Not sure what to suggest to, although since the final episode of Doctor Who isn't out yet, you can probably take it off the list until Friday/Saturday. ^_^

RT Davies and Moffat work well together, I think. And the Doctor/Rogue is so fun. Actually the casting is perfect for everyone. This may well be my favorite Doctor since Ten and Eleven. He's adorable. Also I love Rogue. So good.
Agreed on everything. Well I loved Twelve as well (and Fourteen, what little we saw of him), but Twelve was a bit more difficult, personality-wise. (Except for S10. That one is just pure loveliness.)

I don't think there's been a bad episode? I even enjoyed the Babies.
I guess that's the only upside of the season being so short? No bad episodes.

Apparently I'm a horrible person for not wanting them running about killing lantern flies. I don't know why? It's not like I want to kill them - I just want to avoid them.
Same here. And I don't understand scolding people over a phobia. I wish spiders all the best, they just shouldn't be in my house.

Agree 100% on the spiders and the phobia.
My mother loves spiders. HER mother was terrified of them (she would jump on a chair and scream until someone took the spider away. I wish I could have met her). I think these things jump generations.

Was 12 - Capadali? I think I skipped part of his run, then came back for Molly (I think that was her name?) - the one who became a Cyberwoman but sacrificed herself? I liked that season - don't know which season it was.
Yes, 12 was Capaldi, and you are thinking of Bill and Season 10. That was an absolutely lovely season, one of my favourites. <3

It was also the one, I think with the Wedding of Doctor Song - which I also enjoyed.
That was Season 6! ^_^ But clearly you have good taste in Doctor Who.

(I keep wondering if Susan might be descended from River - if that's the retcon they are going to go with? Maybe not. I don't know the history of Who.
That theory certainly has a lot going for it. There is also the possibility that Susan might be Jenny's (Tenth's Doctor daughter if you recall that episode?). It's a weird ret-con, everyone wonders what it means. Not just where does Susan come from, but how does she get to Gallifrey?

Was 14 also 10? I wasn't certain. If 14 was Tennant, then yes, I liked him too. But then I have a crush on Tennent, I also have one on Nguti.
Yes Tennant was both 10 and 14! And it was great to see how he changed up his performance. I much preferred 14, Tennant has aged beautifully. Ten is... very young. Ncuti is of course just charisma personified. I can't imagine anyone not being charmed. <3

My favs are 15, 10, 11, and 9, probably in that order. I liked 9's edginess, but 10/11 and 15 have an energy that I think is needed for the series, which a lot of the Doctor's lacked?
I see what you mean, but there is very much a sense of every Doctor being a reaction against the one before. And if you go back to the classic show, they were often cantankerous old men. *g*

Did you ever watch Time Crash? Moffat minsode, set between the end of S3 and the Christmas Special.

I think it depends on how you've been introduced to them? And what you associate with them?
Not for me - I instinctively hate/fear them, despite my mother saying how wonderful they are my whole life.

Bill is among my favorite companions.
The Bill/Nardole/Twelve TARDIS team is one of the all-time great teams. They were just delightful.

I liked Capaldi - just not always the writing that went along with him. I think Moffat got burned out and needed a break at some point?
Partly (it's a very very hard show to create), but also Capaldi's first two seasons (the ones with Clara, before Bill) were very introspective and often dark. The Doctor was working through a lot of his issues and it was difficult viewing. Important for the character, but not fun.

I think I skipped over a lot in S6 except for the River Song episodes. (I love River Song.)
S6 is fun (I love the Ponds), but shan't quibble with River-love.

Clara's arc kind of confused me and I got annoyed by it. (Also she has the same name as my mother - which was weird. It's not a common name.)
I can see that being awkward. I know someone else on my flist whose aunt looks like Capaldi, which made his tenure feel very odd.

Ten had a Daughter? I guess he did? I can't remember - was that the Human Condition or when he became human?
No, S4 (the one with Donna). She was accidentally created from a machine. (You might be more familiar with the actress? She is now Georgia Tennant, as she ended up marrying him in real life. And her father is Peter Davidson, who played the Fifth Doctor. So you probably know her mostly as 'the Doctor's daughter who also married the Doctor' *g*)

I'd agree with this. Tennant has gotten more interesting as he's aged and played different roles. (Like I said, I have a crush on Tennant.)
Don't we all? ;)

And Nguti is very very good. That man moves well. He also emotes well. I agree - I can't imagine not liking him. Perfect casting. And it's clearly not an easy role to cast.
We are lucky that they always find someone brilliant.
