The film is kind of amazing, if you consider that the special effects they used were created for that film, and hadn't really been done before. They had done some of them for shorts at Disney, but not most of them. When I re-watched part of it (I turned it off at 10 and went to bed - it was on until 11), I was struck by how well it does work, even now.
Also, even with the poor British accent, Dyke was perfect casting - he brings a kind of humorous cheeky joy to the whole enterprise.
