Sighs..wasting a Saturday, well kind of...
The day wasn't a complete wash - I managed to finish another watercolor, which like most watercolors looks better from across the room than up close, so it's kind of difficult to take a picture of? Watercolors tend to be impressionistic, not exact such as drawings and oil. I'm more of an impressionistic artist.
Also got myself to take a brief walk to Met Fresh, where I picked up dish washing liquid among other essentials and non-essentials.
Spoke to mother - who made the mistake of bringing up the ahem national politics - and I ranted. I can't discuss or think about it - without ranting.
Meanwhile, Anasi Boys comic series has been cancelled. Dark Horse Comics cuts ties to Neil Gaiman and cancels the Ansai Boys
"In a statement on social media on Friday evening, Dark Horse wrote that, “Dark Horse takes seriously the allegations against Neil Gaiman and we are no longer publishing his works. Confirming that the Anansi Boys comic series and collected volume have been cancelled.”" (That's kind of huge - Gaiman more or less started his career at Dark Horse - it was the publisher of the Sandman comic series in the 1980s and 90s.)
Considering I can't look at the man or read anything he wrote any longer, I have a feeling this may be a business decision as well as a moral judgement. Also I've gotten rid of his books for the most part, and I don't think I can watch either Good Omens S3 or Sandman S2.
[As an aside? Not that I begrudge people's reactions to Gaiman or his cancelling per se. But...why can't evil conservative politicians be cancelled for their evil deeds, as opposed to just progressive artists who support human rights causes can be cancelled for their evil deeds? It's not fair. I can tolerate Gaiman - who only hurt maybe 10-20 people, if that? And has helped many others. While the Doofus has hurt millions, possibly more? And hasn't helped anyone. Why can't he be cancelled? Gaiman is a relative Saint in comparison to the Doofus, who is just an evil sociopath. I asked the same question about death, why can't evil conservative politicians die as opposed to kind giving artists? Hums, "billions laughed, and no one cried, the day the politicians died" - that's an actual song by the way: the Day the Politicians Died by the Magnetic Fields..

I mean I'm trying to block out news that the asshole in the white house is deporting small children, among others to war torn countries - most likely resulting in their deaths. Refuses to provide security details for people who have death threats against them out of spite. And is killing "Federal" diversity programs. And that he's a rapist. He's even bragged about it.
He kicks dogs.
But oh, we're going to get upset over Neil Gaiman? Really?
