To annoy you still further - Martin has decided to split his next installment into two volumes, because it was too long for just one. So we have "Feast of Crows" coming out this November which is more or less Act I or the set-up for the next novel, "Dance of Dragons" which does not have a release date yet. When I read this, I rolled my eyes. The man needs a frigging editor to scale him back. I shudder to think how long Feast of Crows will be. Since Storm of Swords is 1128 pages.

Swords is the one that has chapters in Jamie Lannister's pov. Also focuses more on Jamie Lannister and builds that character more, dropping some of the characters that made things drag a bit in the prior books. It's also the longest of the three and according to all the reviewers the best. From what I've read online and on Amazon - the weakest book was the one I just finished, which I tend to agree with, it was more concerned with setting things in motion. Not sure Martin is very good at the middle section of the story.

That said - Martin creates the most complex characters I've seen in Fantasy or Sci-Fi. There are no clear cut good guys or bad guys in these books, it all depends on point of view and situation. Also every single character is developed and multi-faceted from supporting, minor, to lead. He doesn't even appear to have stock characters - which explains why the books are so dense and so long. Can see why they are popular.
