I was only commenting on Shane, not JM or anyone else. *She* is used to playing a particular role, and she doesn't *really* shrug it off, but she's so used to it, she doesn't have the strong reaction we might expect her to. It puzzled me after she slugged Mark that they were sort of buddy-buddy in the subsequent episodes, but she reacts to being used that way the way you might expect a former hustler to react. "So what else is new?" and she accepts his attempts to make amends and be friends because for her, that's an improvement in the normal course of relationships she has with those who use her.
