Candle also has another, more casual location (
Candle Café
(http://candlecafe.com/), on 3rd Av. at 75th St.). They don't seem to have a brunch at all, & no prix fixe. The prices aren't all that low, but nothing like $40--entrees are $12-$18, sandwiches/burgers $9-$13. They also have a
gluten-free
(http://candlecafe.com/glutenfree.html) menu, w/entrees ranging from $14-$20. Might be worth checking.
BTW, 'kat, can you eat quinoa? It's not related to wheat, & the box in my kitchen cabinet says it's gluten free. Could give you some more options. Some of Candle's gluten-free menu items use it.
