Oh I had heard that, that Ratatouille is a wonderful film...
I used to make a killer ratatouille, my only complaint was that it took a long time to make and it had a lot of acid:
peal & chop up an egg plant, start to simmer/fry it in small amount of olive oil in large pot cut up several tomatoes and add them (they will start to form sauce) cut up (I peal them) zuccini and add them cut up some bell peppers (I use red or orange) and add them... let cook and when it get all saucey then let it simmer (the egg plant takes a while to be cooked tender so we're talking about cooking at least an hour stirring occasionally...
I didn't add salt or pepper, but I did add a bit of sugar to off set some of the acid
some people do serve it w/pasta on the side, but I always preferred a baked potato, or rice, or anything you enjoy
