I knew I'd find a place to put this! Have you seen this week's Onion a.v. club? It has an interview w/William Gibson (http://www.avclub.com/content/interview/william_gibson/) in which he talks a little about what noir is in today's world (top of the 2nd page). Made me think of you, & sure enough, I check your journal & 2nd post down, you're talking about noir.

And I agree about stories, in whatever medium, where the women pretty much look alike. I read one sf book early on (don't remember the title or author this much later) in which the men's features were described in detail--craggy or square-jawed or whatever--& the descriptions of all the women consisted of just their hair color & "pretty." 'Cause after all, that's all that matters about a woman's looks, right? @>P

I'm finding myself a little frustrated--so many shows that sound good are on cable stations I don't get. Even the ones in syndication...I've been watching Farscape on ch. 9, & they seem to keep skipping around both the TV schedule & the seasons. Twice now I've seen the same season-ending cliff-hanger, & then they go back to an earlier season instead of on to the next one! And I still don't know what happens! Well, maybe it's just as well I don't spend more time watching TV....
